gungadin09 -> RE: Oral sex (2/22/2011 11:07:06 AM)

Now you've given the inspiration for a whole new generation of tattoo style.

dickrick -> RE: Oral sex (2/22/2011 2:24:02 PM)

I rather have oral sex than cig any time.....

MercTech -> RE: Oral sex (2/22/2011 3:47:58 PM)

Yep, it is gauche and a health hazard to engage in oral sex when you have cold sores....

Don't ya like it when the journalists spin something simple to pure FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt) just to sell more papers?

Stefan

Lucylastic -> RE: Oral sex (2/22/2011 3:55:06 PM)

I imagine having oral sex with cold sores is still.... better than ones pussy being burned with a mouthful of cigarette.
Im not going to test that tho

Ummm ..this has nothing to do with oral sex and herpes.

This has to do with oral sex and the risk of oral cancers from HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), which is not at all the same thing.
Just as women can get cervical cancer from HPV and that is sexually transmitted, you can get the same virus orally (or anally for that matter ...just ask Farrah Fawcett).

This has been in the news for several years with hard scientific research to back to up.

And a quick reminder, men do get penile cancer from HPV as well.

Missokyst -> RE: Oral sex (2/22/2011 5:01:38 PM)

Oh oh... I can see it now,... potential congressional action on this when some politicians dick falls off after years of in office attention.

littlewonder -> RE: Oral sex (2/22/2011 5:32:06 PM)

the reason this is making news is because of the findings that teenagers are engaging more in oral sex as a way to escape the "having sex" question since many teenagers don't view oral sex as sex.

It's just another way of warning teenagers that they can't escape stds by having oral sex instead of intercourse. Unfortunately many teenagers think they can't contract diseases with oral sex.

Again, no... this is causing big problems with ADULTS.

"Oral sex can get most men's attention. The topic becomes considerably more relevant, however, when coupled with a new study linking the human papillomavirus (HPV) to an increased risk of a kind of oral cancer more often seen in men.
The study, which appears in this week's New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), shows that men and women who reported having six or more oral-sex partners during their lifetime had a nearly ninefold increased risk of developing cancer of the tonsils or at the base of the tongue. Of the 300 study participants, those infected with HPV were also 32 times more likely to develop this type of oral cancer than those who did not have the virus. These findings dwarf the increased risk of developing this so-called oropharyngeal cancer associated with the two major risk factors: smoking (3 times greater) or drinking (2.5 times greater). HPV infection drives cancerous growth, as it is widely understood to do in the cervix. But unlike cervical cancer, this type of oral cancer is more prevalent in men."

Scaremongering to promote the Gardasil vaccine

http://skepticalob.blogspot.com/2009/04/bad-news-you-can-get-hpv-from-oral-sex.html

Fortunately, the Gardasil vaccine appears to have great promise in preventing cervical cancer, and there is reason to believe that it could be effective in preventing oral cancers caused by HPV. Let us hope that is the case. Otherwise, we could be facing the grim prospect of an epidemic of cancer caused by oral sex, and spread by kissing.

Gardasil vaccine is a flop for good reasons

...In the US, infection with HPV is very common, and it is estimated that about 20 million Americans have an HPV infection at any given time. In fact, HPV is so common that most sexually active people will get it at some time in their lives.

The important thing to know about HPV is that in almost all cases, it clears up on its own without any adverse health effects within two years in most healthy people....

According to the CDC's report on HPV to Congress in 2004:

"Cervical cancer is an uncommon consequence of HPV infection in women, especially if they are screened for cancer regularly with pap tests and have appropriate follow-up of abnormalities.

The purpose of screening with the pap test is to detect cervical abnormalities that can be treated, thereby preventing progression to invasive cervical cancer, and also to detect invasive cervical cancer at a very early stage. If detected early and managed promptly, survival rates for cervical cancer are over 90 percent."
