    The use of "mansion" is rather misleading though. It looks like some sort of large shanty building, with the upper floors just nicely painted.

    Judging by the picture, the proper term here in America may not be "wives".

    It looks like he keeps them all in line.

    Sure, he marries all the "poor women" in the village.

    There are 100 rooms in his mansion and 39 wives, yet the "wives" must live dormitory style.

    On the other hand, being a brood mare and sexual servitude might be a lot better than starving.

    Besides. . . I would bet that at least some of the wives are bi or les at this point. [:)]

    I doubt the government offers the wives any support,
    unlike the wives of Kody Brown (of the Bravo tv show Sister Wives)
    Perhaps they all hold at least a part time job and turn over the wages to the husband?

    According to the article below it is the men who go out and work. I'm assuming it's his male children and other families of his sect that maybe live in his mansion.

    That sounds more in keeping with the culture there.
    I think I was on a tangent (still) about how ridiculous it is that in
    the USA, I work my butt off to help support a man with several wives.

    Did you ever try to keep 94 kids still to have their picture taken? You know at least one of them is always going to be making a face and another one will be making rabbit ears behind someone's head. :)
