Status: offline 		I find it VERY interesting that all of the CUTS are aimed at the working class, especially the working poor -- and all of the BENEFITS further pad the pockets of the rich. Not a SINGLE program that was reduced or trimmed was among those giving money to the already rich or benefiting corporate pockets at the expense of the working people -- and then we have the debacle in Wisconsin on top of it.

I'm sorry, call it whatever you want, but to me, if it -walks- like a duck, -swims- like a duck, and -quacks- like a duck, it's a duck... and this particular duck's name is "Legislated Impoverishment of the Working Class". I'm not talking about "gifts to the poor" here -- I'm talking about STEALING from the people who are out there working hard and trying to keep their homes and families together to pad their own pockets, while making life a little more difficult for small business owners, small family farmers, and the rank-and-file who are busting their butts in corporate servitude.

I think if we look hard enough, this recent batch of legislators must have descended from the folk who inspired the literary amalgam represented by the Sheriff of Nottingham or the French nobility of the period of Maria Antoinette.

Status: offline 		What? You weren't convince who the Republican Party truely represented a month ago, when they didn't allow the Bush Tax Cuts to expire for the richest 2% of the income earners? The GOP has time and again, convince dumb and retarded conservatives that they represent them. Republicans stated that if the richest 2% were forced to pay more (from the 35% they pay now, to 39%) it would cost jobs. What they didn't say (because how often do Republicans say the whole truth?), is by NOT doing it, would cost....MORE JOBS.

The economists predicted that that change of 4% would have generated $700 Billion from the 2% of earners this year. Would have solved alot of problems. BUT, since it isn't, there will be many people losing their jobs. And not just in the goverment sector either! It simply amazes me, that conservatives never stop to consider how much buying power $100 Billion gets in jobs. That the amount of private sector companies that do direct business with the goverment will be losing out on contracts and solid work; it'll force them to layoff employees. Which is always a good idea to do during a recession, when the unemployment rate is very high, right? Conservative Ideaology at its best.

This is another form of the 'Trickle Down Theory'. The idea is that, by cutting taxes for the extreme wealthy in our country, will create jobs. And that those jobs, will be good paying, not the 'Wal-Mart line rep level' ones that are becoming common place. Who are the only ones still convince this will work: Conservatives. No amount of reason or facts will sway conservatives. They've been conditioned over two decades by conservative media not to listen to 'them libtards'. How often do we see conservatives referring to non-conservatives as 'libtard' on this forum? Everyday. So the conditioning must be working well. The truely ironic part of it is: Conservatives are the biggest conspiracy theoriests of any political group of people.

Notice the GOP hasn't explained how to create good paying jobs for the citizens of the nation yet?

Encouraging business does nothing for the economy.  All it does is benefit the owner.

Tax cuts became disconnected from job creation a long time ago.



Also, take note of the issues involving colleges.   The private, for-profit colleges enroll 10% of the student population, but its graduates are responsible for 50% of student loan defaults. They also consume the greatest share of federal student loan money.

So, they suck on the government aid money tit the most, handing it over to shareholders, and crank out useless degrees.  They have become the driving element in the 'sub-prime borrower' problem of the college loan world.

The Dems want legislation that limits access to the federal student loan money pot to only those schools that produce viable degrees. It curbs the financial 'wild west' element of these for-profits. It shuts off the shareholder welfare spigot. It also prohibits the "Homeless shelter enrollments" that the for-profits have been doing.

Apparently that's unacceptable to Republicans, who obviously are looking out for Wall St rather than the taxpayer or students.

Its rather funny how they blame Barney Frank for the housing sub-prime crisis, while they turn around and defend their promotion of the same problem (college sub-prime crisis) that is presently growing.

Its also funny that when the housing crisis hit, the Republicans were the first people to say "not everyone is worthy of owning a home". And yet, when it comes to the second biggest personal debt (behind a mortgage) that someone can build, they apparently think anybody living in homeless shelters should have access to a 6-figure student loan. And they defend that access on behalf of banks and the for-profit colleges listed on the stock exchanges.

So Mr. Luckytogetinbeforetheedit, I have no intention of breeding.

Encouraging business does plenty for the economy, IN OTHER COUNTRIES.

I got rid of that post because I thought it too inflammatory for the particular venue.

Want more ? Encouraging business IN THE US does very little for the economy. The suits don't want to share the wealth we can make them. Chinese and whatever will take their pittance and be lorded over by their bosses. We don't take kindly to that having had a taste of the dolce vita, when things were doing well.

I am not going to flip burgers, or run a carpet cleaner. I have skills that should make it unnecessary. Should. I also won't work under my rate because it is unfair to everyone else in the profession. If the place I work burns to the ground, the place I will be looking is a bank. I'll mortgage the house for startup money for a business, after I have a plan honed that is.

I decided not to breed thirty years ago, so you have nothing to worry about.

But it was something like that. Now that they make more money on export/import, business means a different thing. It does not help us now. They increase sales it increases the money going out, not coming in. What portion of the GDP they state is profits by banks that make money out of nothing ? What portion of the chronically unemployed are excluded from the official figures ? What good is a zero prime rate if the banks add a 17 point spread ?

I know a little bit about construction, and if I see a brick building that is about to fall down, I don't tuckpoint it. It's over. It's time to rebuild after our little holocaust. It will be so terrible, your TV won't work, you'll have dropped calls all the time and EEEEEK your internet connection might fade from time to time.

Then the AC will break in your car, and freon will be $900 a pound because it is made overseas and the dollar is worth a dime. Gas will be $10 a gallon with any luck.

Oy, how will we survive ? Well lemme tell OUR little coddled asses something. This type of shit is happening all over the world and has been for some time. Now it is time for us to take a bite of the shit sandwich. Truth is we have never seen hard times in this country. Even though I was homeless at one time, I found a way. When the shit hits the fan there will be no way. Even stealing won't work because everyone will be on the lookout for it. People will die of starvation on the streets.

You say it won't happen here ? Well in the places where it has happened I'm sure they said the same thing. Get that through your head. It is going down. Prepare. That's all I can say. Prepare your young, if it doesn't happen in our lifetime, they are better off prepared than not, no matter what. The big one is inevitable, the numbers, at least the ones to which I pay any regard, speak louder than anyone's words.

Can't happen here ? Just watch and see.

Regulation is just there for show. They have the government in their pocket and the regulations serve their interests. Got it ?

Here again...define 'encouraging business.' I love these local 'economic development' offices. There exist to give away taxpayer money to do what the marketplace is supposed to do i.e., mostly business welfare.

To create jobs we need to create demand and from those who have the wealth to fulfill that demand. Fewer and fewer people have the wealth to fulfill almost any demand beyond the essentials. Americans need to reduce household debt and we are. Then we will see what little that does beyond what we see now.

People will find out what I have been telling them for years, no matter where it is built, it is built to make money. It is improved to make more money. You want the best of everything ? The latest and greatest ? Go for it.

But you don't buy a yacht when you make thirty grand a year.

Most of the demand is non-essential. This is going to kill the beast as people's belts tighten. When we don't want what they sell, they will be pretty much fucked, and a class inversion will occur. This is generally accompanied by a revolution, but it might not have to be violent. Make them learn how to get our money, our wealth. Make them learn that we ain't patsies anymore. Make them learn that we learn. Make them learn that they did not.

Without a shot fired. But we have no solidarity. If there were a number like a solidarity quotient, we would be deep into the negative numbers. We would kill each other for a parking space, a better house, a better Wife/family. A better anything. It is all possesions to us. Others mean nothing to us, and as long as that is true, we are slaves to their bullshit, and it is bullshit.

It's the people, stupid ! Look on craigslist - "Will trade 4X4 with plow for ipod Z or a Zune 44.55 version" , shit like that. Will trade bicycle for cellphone. And so on. Until people understand that it is we who create the demand and therefore the profits, we are stuck. If we ever put away our childish desires, we will win.
