MistressDarkArt -> Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/29/2011 9:08:30 PM)

After successfully placing several prior posts in the w4m "misc romance", CL is not publishing my "Domme Seeks Sub" as they have in the past. I now have to establish an account with a CL-issued pass-code texted or phoned to me to attempt to place an ad which I've never needed to do before. Nothing in the ad is sexually explicit or suggestive of any monetary exchange for service (I'm NOT a pro), just stating the vanilla qualities I'm looking for and that I do seek a D/s dynamic with the person I'd like to connect with. I look at some of the m4w and m4m 'misc romance' 'ltr' and 'casual encounter ads' and my jaw drops: dick pics, ass pics, 'fuck my tight ass then cum down my throat' type narratives; my little "Domme seeks" looks like a nursery rhyme in comparison. I noticed the w4m ads are practically nil these days and what little there are seem very vague, bland and generic. Does anybody know what's happening and when these changes were made? Are these changes to discourage pros and/or 'protect' women? Men seem to be able to post anything raunchy they want but heaven forbid a female should state she seeks a D/s relationship? Dang, it kinda feels like...DISCRIMINATION!!

"Mistress" = Pro for Craigslist.

Missokyst -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/29/2011 11:12:17 PM)

Craigslist very definitely has a double standard for m vs f seeking posts.
Men can post anything, say anything, mention dominance, and no one blinks an eye. But female for male ads better be extremely generic. IF they have a chance at all.
Your best bet is to visit the help section where volunteers can help with suggestions on how to word your ad.

I can tell you from my own experimentation on craigs that an ad with the EXACT same wording with me posting in the WfM section was denied for 6 weeks. I posted it in the MfW ad and it was up in 10 mins.

So.. I visited the help section and questioned them about discrimination.. what do you know.. my WfM ad was up within 15 mins after my mentioning the double standard.

Of course.. the ad only lasted for 14 hrs.. the time it took for the pay for ads to flag it for removal.

So I am *not* imagining this!! Thanks Missokyst for sharing your experience. I will now try what you did: ask for advice in the 'help' section and 'wonder' if I'm being discriminated against. I actually asked my (male) sub to post in the m4m on my behalf in search of a second because I couldn't seem to get anything published. I'll let you know if he was successful in getting (and keeping) the post up.

Roughleather, the language I used was "Domme seeks sub"...the word Mistress was nowhere in evidence in either the title or the narrative (of course I did not use my screen name here or any name for that matter.) Just plain 'Domme'.

Curious about other people's experiences posting in the CL personals, especially women, if you care to share.

The word "Domme" is probably automatically flagged in CL as an attempt to get around their Adult Services ban. Here's more on that (but not specific to non-pro-Dommes) http://jezebel.com/5644988/a-sex-worker-on-life-after-craigslist

Haven't touched Craig's list for six years.

DarkSteven -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/30/2011 5:39:39 AM)

I have had the same thing happen to me, when it asks for or a texting phone number.  And I once had an ad that I went through the entire rigmarole with, and it never posted.

It's been recent, last four or five months.

when I was a swinger a few years agp craiglist was a good spot to fingd like minded couples, but that seems to have fizzled out. In more rescent times I have posted a few ads for amusements sake, rediculous ads, like my most rescent one "hunchback troll seeks crosseyed asian bbw with pink hair" I too was prompted to recieve a text message code. I think this is likely a way to track the would be phsyco killer.

I posted an ad for work and also had to receive a code via text message.

angelikaJ -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/30/2011 7:37:45 AM)

I am thinking you could probably acheive the same thing leaving out the "Domme" bit.

State that you are a strong assertive woman perhaps and then list the qualities in the type of man you want.
I think enough savy people should be able to read between the lines if you word it carefully. Express the kinds of things you like to have your partner do for you... and what they will be getting in return.

salemartist -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/30/2011 9:15:26 AM)

doesnt matter, the text message system is a new way to eliviate fake ads from phishing sites and scammers, post an ad in apartments or for sale and you will have to do the same. its a safegaurd feature.

olysub -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/30/2011 5:18:20 PM)

I don't know if there is a double standard but I doubt it. I have posted several ads as a m4w that never showed up. Everything seem to be fine when posting but the ads were didn't show. There seem to be some words or combination of words that prevent the ad from truly being posted. The link I get emailed as part of the posting process works but my ad never shows up in searches.

MistressDarkArt -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/30/2011 9:13:19 PM)

My (male) sub had the same experience as everyone above: he tried posting this benign ad and it wouldn't publish. So...at least we have some evidence CL is not just targeting females.

"Couple seeking bi-male - mw4m - 50
F/m couple seeking s bi-male for ongoing inclusion as a third. We are clean, ddf and safe. You must be the same and be at least 30 y/o. If interested reply with more than a one liner and tell us about your experiences as a sub if any. Newbies are encouraged."

MsVirginiaDomme -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/31/2011 9:31:46 AM)

I think you are correct in that certain words get you flagged.  I know I was flagged for reason's beyond me. For the life of me I have no clue what word caused it.  I did not mention Domme.  I did mention men who like to dress.  Go figure!

windchymes -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/31/2011 10:58:48 AM)

Anybody reading Craigslist ads can flag them. It only takes one or two who are "offended" by whatever is in an ad and they can flag it for being "inappropriate". I didn't check, but doesn't Craigslist have an adult section?

Missokyst -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/31/2011 4:44:32 PM)

That is called ghosting. Your ad is there but people can only access it if you send them a link.
WTF is that?
To have your ad un-ghosted you need to visit the help forum and they will tell you the offending word, or it might mysteriously appear as mine did after I complained about discrimination.
My ad in WfM, was a PITA to put up.. but as I said that same ad, with the exact wording got posted within 10 mins in the MfW.

Real0ne -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (1/31/2011 6:14:30 PM)

I doubt the problem lies directly with CL.

They get an incredible amount of spam and its the users who flag it.  They too get trigger happy so I can only imagine they are applying the least amount cure they have to, to those whom they have the most problems with.

rspmkiv -> RE: Craigslist: What's Going On? (2/1/2011 2:39:04 PM)

99.999% of the w4m ads on Craigslist are scammers/spammers. It looks like CL has just decided to mark everything as inappropriate as soon as its posted instead of trying to sort out the mess in some intelligent fashion. To really get an idea of the scope of the issue, try subscribing to a CL RSS feed for a day. Just here in Phoenix the 'casual encounters' section gets 400-600 w4m posts daily...even more on the weekends!
