I fondly remember watching him and his dog, and sometimes his wife on his show.  That was so many years ago that I had no idea he was even still alive.  But I shouldn't be surprised that he lived to be 96.

"I cannot afford to die, it will ruin my image.- Jack LaLanne. I will be dedicating my workouts to him.

I loved Jack.  When I was really little I'd sit with my mom and watch him and his dog (thanks for that reminder, Treasure!).  What a healthy body and mind he had.  RIP.

I remember as a kid watching him on black and white TV...May he rest in peace, he was a one of a kind!

I too remember his program....it opened with him in shadow doing jumping jacks at one point.

They probably won't even have to use formaldehyde on him he's so well preserved!

One of our last American icons.......

Jack and his wife live(d) in my small beach town. I would frequently see him having brunch at Dorn's restaurant on the waterfront. He always had a smile and handshake for everyone. Here's a pic of him mugging it up at our table with my friend on one of those Sunday brunches. I'll fondly remember the time I was doing my usual 4x weekly hike up Black Mountain...I was near the top and he was on his way down. He was about 90 then and several inches shorter than my 5'4". He took a moment to pat my huffing and puffing shoulders to say, 'You're doing great! Keep up the good work!" Rest in peace, Jack, and thanks for all the inspiration. You made fitness accessible to all. We'll miss seeing your silver Corvette around town, too! Condolences to Elaine LaLanne, thanks for sharing him with us.
