Ummm...hate to break it to ya, but those are imaginary creatures.
That being said...they are highly susceptible to booger flicks. Does em in every time.

DesFIP -> RE: fairys (1/23/2011 8:33:56 AM)

In the True Blood series, it says they're susceptible to silver. I hope this info is needed for a book or story and that you don't really believe in them.

OttersSwim -> RE: fairys (1/23/2011 8:36:04 AM)

I have always understood that weapons made from iron will cause them great harm.

They react also adversely to lemon in that series.

Traditionally it is often iron.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: fairys (1/23/2011 1:36:05 PM)

Disbelief.

(C'mon...I know you've seen Peter Pan.)

From a folklore perspective, it depends on the cultural orgin.  Most Celtic legends include cold iron as one of the few things that can kill the Fae, but salt, various herbs, and other items have been used to ward them off or disrupt their magic.

DesFIP -> RE: fairys (1/23/2011 2:08:05 PM)

Terry Pratchett says iron and silver. The silver was used to shoe a fairy queen's pet unicorn and deprive her of it. But yes, I forgot the iron.

0ldhen -> RE: fairys (1/23/2011 4:08:59 PM)

Dark Fey maybe, cold iron is a definite fairy killer.

Answer where I try to be funny - Reality.

Real answer in mythological terms - Satyrs.
