So why would Alesi sue now, three years later? The homeowners told us he never complained after the injury, nor did he thank them for declining to press charges.

The statute of limitations for trespassing runs out after three years. That means that as of this past Tuesday, the homeowners could no longer sue Alesi for trespassing on their property. As it turns out, that's the exact same day he filed his suit against them.

You know finding a story that gives some indication of which of the 50 fucking states this happened in, might not be an unreasonable request.

You think?

James S. Alesi (born 1948) is a New York State Senator, representing parts of Monroe County, and a member of the Republican Party.

Wiki can be your friend too! [:D]

Already had looked it up tazzy, but had to chastise the op for neglecting to find a link indicating the state.  When one posts a link like that it should include information like the state.

Yeah, I was confused until I went looking too.

joether -> RE: Senator Alesi Sues Couple that Declined to Press Charges Against Him (1/23/2011 2:07:46 AM)

The story sounded like a sleazy law maker trying to make a homeowner's life a living hell. Then I heard his political party and it all made sense....

This was what I found interesting:

Is he a Republican that wailed and gnashed his teeth for tort reform? I hope the good voters of NY remeber this when he comes up for re-election.

I'll tell you a little story about Alesi. I grew up in a summer resort town the next county south of his district. Canandaigua Lake is a glacier carved, long narrow lake, one of the Finger Lakes, and lined with cottages, most of which have morphed into year round homes. Senetor Alesi purchased a home on Whiskey Point from one of the descendants of the original settlers, on a dead end, seasonal stretch of road. The lake banks are steep and rocky, the road narrow, most homes are across the road from the water as there just isn't room to build on the water. Whiskey Point however is a prime large level flat lot and Alesi immediately made plans to MOVE THE ROAD behind his house so he wouldn't be bothered by traffic as he sat on his front porch and viewed the lake. He was quite put off by the ensuing shitstorm, and was quoted something along the lines that because of his awesome responsibilities, he deserved to have the road moved so he could fully relax, as no one understands the stress his position puts on him. I believe that the fact that there are other millionaires on that road who would have been inconvienenced is the only thing that kept it from happening. The arrogance of these politicians never ceases to amaze me.
