Wow, quite a few pricey items.

GreedyTop -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 12:11:19 AM)

stuff I wish they'd added pics to!  there are some gorgeous sounding items there!!

of course, they (the President et al) don't get to KEEP it....

tazzygirl -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 12:12:10 AM)

Nope.. lol.. they just get to enjoy it for a lil while.

ETA

Which gets me to thinking. (dangerous, i know) But, if we were to sell all that stuff, and all the other stuff that were "gifts" how quickly would we be out of debt? Imagine the possibilities!

GreedyTop -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 12:25:04 AM)

True.. but then we'd piss off the countries that gave them.. bad diplomacy lol

tazzygirl -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 12:27:27 AM)

Eventually, we either have, or will, piss em off anyways... lol

~edited cus of a typo and it being 3 am and i dont want Master Ron to see it

DesFIP -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 5:48:46 AM)

You'll note that he doesn't get to keep anything that is valued over $15 dollars. Of course, it would be just as interesting to see what we give when our ambassadors and politicians traveling overseas give gifts.

A cop on the beat is not allowed to take gifts. Far as I know same for firemen. Why ?

Look around and you see why.

T^T

His excellency?     Gag me.

GreedyTop -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 7:49:32 AM)

WTF are you talking about, Hunky?

pahunkboy -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 7:59:54 AM)

GT- gifts to the honorable- from his excellency.  LMAO

GreedyTop -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 8:03:57 AM)

while you may not agree with the accuracy of such titles, Hunky.. they ARE still the recognized titles.

Just as the title of The President should be honored .. for the TITLE, if not the person, so should be the titles of His Excellency, etc.. for the TITLE if not the person.

and in the gift giving situation, it is one TITLE giving another TITLE a gift.

Sounds like a bunch of egotistical ego stroking to me.

Termyn8or -> RE: Gifts to teh U.S. Gov't (1/21/2011 8:12:56 AM)

Well I capitalise the word President when referring to the President of the US. That is more than they desearve already.

T^T

Imagine if the U.S. was set up like Great Britian; "From the Duchy of Boston, a case of lobsters from "Your Wicked Fuckin' Pissa-ness" Gov Smith."

What is the fourth column in the list for? I note that it says exactly the same thing for virtually every item. They may as well add a fifth column and put in it 'This is the fifth column information for this item.'

Typical bureaucrats.
