Ironic that two of the jobs Gordon Brown did manage to create were for himself and Tony, travelling the world making fortunes on the lucrative lecture circuit.

This Conservative government is like going back in time they have a clear mission:

1. Fuck up the NHS
2. Give rail companies longer franchises
3. Allow only the inbred society a chance at higher education
4. Stuff the House of Lords full of Ken Clarkes who had their chance to ruin the country a generation ago.

The only jobs government can create are public sector ones, they created plenty of those. Given the choice between paying someone to go to work and paying them to stay at home I know what I a tax payer would rather do.

This is what society is, we help one another to better ourselves. We don't just say are you useful if not go away. The tone is very different these days there is no 'big society'. There is barely a society at all.

It's worse than that: Blair's down as some sort of middle east envoy (while hiding his profits in a company that Reed Richards couldn't puzzle out, in order to evade paying any taxes), which is a bit like hiring the Chimp as a spokesman on war crimes...

I'd leave Clarke out of that as he's one of the few tories I don't want to drill a hole in their head and then piss on their brain.
Dead right on the rest, though.

Ken's ok I suppose, helps maintain the Euro schizophrenia within the Tories. I'm surprised Norman Lamont hasn't turned up yet is he dead?

I thought they had trotted the tosser out again for a few speeches, though I might be confusing him with some other evil cunt who needs shooting...

Nope, he's still going, just like the bloody miserable weather.

TheUnpopularBrother: Had to get rid of the postman...didn't know what the national insurance rate was. Replaced him with Ed Balls. gave the media some bollocks about family commitments.

Sad to admit it but I quite fancy Yvette Cooper ( I think its my age ) I wonder if we can chat on messenger now Ed has a full time job again.

I wonder why global matters.  Shouldn't he concern with the UK?

This feel good speech is something Obama would do.

I think the uncertainty of all kinds of regs is not good.   Businesses cant plan for the long term- throw in the cooked numbers and everyone is on a different page.. some even on the wrong chapter...

In all fairness, taking the regulatory leash off in order to "compete" in our globalized "race to the bottom" is what brought us to this mess.  The business owners who pout and spout what you say, they just long for a return to the loose days. They have become accustomed to things, regardless of how dysfunctional it was.

During WWII, business owners completely changed their production lines to aid in the war.  Raincoat manufacturers changed their production lines into making parachutes.  They sacrificed profits for their country.  Today's business owners are outsourcing and demanding tax cuts during our present-day wars. Today's business owners are not their father's generation. Job creation becomes all about who will pad the pockets of the owner, lest he take his factories offshore. Its all about playing the tax breaks offered by one state against another state, pushing more and more of the cost burden of government onto individual taxpaying landowners.

Today, we have created too many shortcuts to wealth that the upper class does not have to organically create jobs in the private sector to become rich. Creating jobs in the private sector has been demoted to being "the long, burdensome way" to that goal.

The numbers paint a much different picture.

No, they dont.

The whole point of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2008 was to keep America from plunging in to a depression.

Hard to avoid a depression using policies that have already been shown to prolong/deepen a recession

Since we are not in one, and jobs were saved (according to the CBO),

ORLY. Why dont you show us where and how the CBO defined and enumerated a "saved job"

I would have to gather Mr. Obama has been doing a pretty good job. But why let FACTS and INFORMATION get in the way of conservatives, eh?

You mean as opposed to your making up "facts"

Now, as the first action of the GOP led House, was to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and NOT, help American's get jobs; I would still have to say, Mr. Obama is keeping focus on the problem, but Republicans are not. The ACA has created jobs in the health care industry, and projected to create more in the near future.

Actually the ACA is projected to cost 1.6 million jobs over all industries in the next decade. But why talk about ALL the facts, when only certain ones help your bullshit talking points.

According to http://costofwar.com/en/:

approx US $ 769,988,000,000 ... at the time of posting. It's risen since then.

This figure is the cost to the US taxpayer alone AFAIK. Cost to the taxpayers of allied countries could well be extra.

And that's the cost in cash terms only - the cost in deaths, wounded and shattered lives in probably incalculable.
