Hello.

This will sound like an odd question.  My brother has offered me a free TV.  This would be the old type- not the new flat screen.  I own a 33 inch- but the picture tube is on its way out.  I seldom watch TV.

I assume the TV my brother has is nice.

I could free cycle my current TV.

As crappy as TV is- do I want an idiot box sitting around the house?

I would rather get his microwave oven- but he has not closed on that house yet.

What are your thoughts on electronic junk?

I got a free (to me) 47" LED HD tv with a surround sound home entertainment system, for Christmas. I am loving it and feeling mega spoiled. I am falling in love with favourite movies, all over again.

The tv it replaced is a 27" television I purchased 15 years ago. I enjoy having a television even though I can go for days without watching it. If I am here by myself it can stay turned off for days. But on a night like last night.....it's great to curl up on the sofa in a blanket and watch movies.

you could always plug it into a micro wave and get some real entertainment out of it

If you dont want it, let me know and Ill tell you where I am so you can send it(just teasing). Being newly seperated, I dont have a lot of material possessions and even if I dont watch it much, there are times that it would really be useful, lol......I can't see why you wouldnt want it if yours is going out. After all, you must watch it sometime to know the other is going out, eh?

you could offload it for about 20 bucks if you wanted to, the flatscreens have become way more popular. having one when you need it but not using it is one thing, needing one and not having one would be a real bummer. i have an extra tv for just that reason. it was given to me. it can play the kids games and would work if the one they're using ever dies. i'd rather have the kids here playing video games with their friends rather than out doing god knows what.

I was given a 32" set by a friend when she upgraded to a flat screen.....personally, I'm not impressed with flat screens.....most of them seem to slightly distort the picture, hers sure did!  Doesn't matter to me if it's got a tube...this one works beautifully, and I didn't have a TV since mine had dies and I hadn't replaced it yet.

Free is a great deal....I'd take it and run....if not, I have second dibs on it after VAA!

I have accepted the TV set.

The old one I will freecycle in the Spring.    If not- I will wait for electronics recycling to drop it off.

Thanks to all.   :-)
