I try to avoid having nasty thoughts about people (it's too emotionally draining), I try to believe that anyone can see the error of their ways, come to true repentance, and find redemption and forgiveness... But I do occasionally make exceptions (after all, being pure and noble all the time is too damn tiring). So... to mister cat torturer... [sm=sodoff.gif] I hope you land in a jail cell with a six foot five, body builder nick-named "the ass buster," who really like cats.

OMG i HATE hearing things like this. I'm almost crying. Wtf. Of course a cat is going to eat a crawfish. What an idiot!!!!!! He deserves to be riddled with BBs and THEN be put in prison for MUCH longer than 5 years. What an asshole. Omg.

Sad.Yet, overall, that cat probably had a better life than most of the meat that ends up on our tables. No, I'm neither offering excuses for this man's behavior nor advocating veganism, but when there's an uproar on these threads it rather pains me to see the disconnect people make between the treatment of the animals in our homes and the treatment of ones that end up as dinner.

Most people won't get 5 years for abusing their own children. I have to wonder how many outraged pet lovers were in court for this case that wouldn't be in court for a child abuse case ? 5 years is long enough. It's a cat.

There should be some very strict penalties for him doing that, fine him a bunch of billions of dollars put him on house arrest 2 months in prison, court ordered anger management classes, register on some kind of commited a felony list or something but I feel 5 years in prison is a bit over the top, prisons are already over crowded, a huge drain on resources, and give very little back to society, I feel that it's abit over the top for prison time, prisons, in my mind of for people who murder and rape other humans or something else super super bad I can't think of, not for torturing a cat. Servantforuse is right, people who abuse children don't often even get 5 years, and abusing a child is more prolific than animal abuse, and should get sterner punishments. Nobody get me wrong, it was horrible, but not justify adding more crowding to an already crowded prision population, worthy. Hell maybe 2 months and a huge fine that'd take half his life to pay off or something, I'd say ok yeah, but not 5 years.

Gosh thats awful....what does BB stands for??? And I am just glad that someone realised that there was a cat drowning as I imagine that this was rather a slim chance to happen... I hope that the prisoners treat him as bad as they treat the criminals who are in there due to having harmed kids and/or women...because when I wrote reports and interviews from the prison back home about horrendous abuse some of them had to endure within that prison a police officer explained to me that within the prison population the ones who harmed children and women would be on the lowest rank inside there...so I hope that the ones who abuse animals are on that lowest level as well, because then he will have a "hell of a ride" in there....

For those of you in the "it's just and animal" crowd, do you realize how many of these sick fucks abuse children and women after animals? I am fortunate enough to be able to buy locally, organic and humanely raised meat and I don't take that for granted. I gladly will buy store brand products and shop at consignment stores in order to not contribute to animal abuse.

In many instances I see people more upset when a pet is abused than thay are when a child is abused. I just think those folks should get their priorities in order.

Ayne I am not in any means in the camp of oh it was just an animal, but I'm still not in favor of 5 years prison sentance. Like I said give him a 2 month sentance, fine him something that'll take half his life to pay, mandate court ordered anger management courses, make him register on some animal abuse watch list, house arrest, but 5 years in a prison system that's already over burdened? no.

They are both helpless and innocent. They are not the same. The life of a child is much more important than a cat or dog. There are people who have hurt their children and have not gotten a 5 year sentence as they should have. Abusing an animal is terrible but it is certainly not as serious as abusing an innocent child. The prisons should be saved for them.
