Cultural difference on this one, I'm sure.  Here you'd think Valentine's Day is next week.

The VD stuff usually starts in a week or so, florists and chocolate manufacturers will remind you....

meh, it's just what they think will sell for the next few months, if you were to follow what the drugstores put out(They have more crap then drugs these days)then you'd think that Christmas was some time after mid October, and valentines day saint patties day, and Easter were all one holiday.

and that people wear Halloween costumes to fourth of July fireworks

I want to know what asshole decided Valentine's should be smack in the middle of winter. They should have one for each hemisphere, so you only celebrate it in summer.

Meh, blame the pope.
No, really.

Lets see. Easter. We have chocolate bunnies, greased up hard boiled eggs. I am sure there is a fetish in there some where.........hmmm........now where to hide the hard boiled egg........I will stop there LOL!

DesFIP -> RE: Easter eggs and bunnies... (1/7/2011 6:08:27 PM)

Valentine's Day has to be in winter. In summer the chocolate would melt.

And yes, Valentine's Day decorations were up in the drugstore but not yet in the supermarket as of yesterday. Of course we were prepping for a snowstorm yesterday so it's understandable they were putting out extra milk and toilet paper and not bothering with the candy.

I kinda like the idea of having to keep company during the winter and keeping eachother warm, then gain I grew up in the desert, so the idea of doing anything strenuous, social,"romantic" or anything that all during summer is completely foreign to me.
"really!?it's 120, you wanna just lay down in a tub of ice or something?"

allthatjaz -> RE: Easter eggs and bunnies... (1/8/2011 3:31:17 AM)

Not seen anything related to Easter in my supermarkets yet but plenty to do with valentine.

Bastard. [:D]

Anyway, there's no BAD time of year to be romantic of course, I'm just saying it would be a lot easier for those of us men in cooler climes to buy our ladies dinner in July, than February.

We're the ones paying for the meal - can't we also go for a nice stroll along the river afterward without freezing our arses off ?

Other way round here, they had a massive display with bunnies, eggs and all that, I haven't seen the Valentine's day stuff yet but would be surprised if they don't get the displays out ASAP

Well there's always the time I took Master an Easter Basket with his coffee on Easter Morning, and laid a plastic Easter egg... if you've never seen a naked slave cluck like a chicken and lay an egg (I'll leave it to your imagination where it came out from), well you've been missing out, lol. Cost of plastic egg .50 .... look on Master's face...priceless [:D]
