Everyone i know who has an iphone, including myself, is happy with it.  I have never had drop call issues.  It does everything i need.  The only thing i don't like is the lack of ring tones but i learned how to make them.  I also don't like that you can't set a specific number to vibrate or silence.  And like computers etc, it irritates me that every couple months it seems a newer version comes out.  blah.

I got a battery case for it, so the battery isn't an issue anymore.  All in all, it works fine.  I got it because many of the people in our office got one for the last couple years, so i watched and asked questions and when i didn't hear anything bad from any of them, i got mine.

The thing is there are always bad phones in every thing and it could be you just got a bad phone.  If everyone was telling you how great they are and it convinced you to get one, then it may be you just got a bad phone. The same thing could happen with any phone you get.

Good luck.

or it also could be that it isn't the right phone for her...if I lose the downloaded music on it when they fix it (which was the case with my phone I had before that one) then I will sell mine. was nice to get to know but doesn't have to stay with me.

barelynangel -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 5:29:49 AM)

It seems her issues are technical, i.e., camera doesn't work, dropped calls etc.  She didn't say she didn't likethe concept of the phone.  Those things don't happen because the phone isn't right for her.  They happen because something is wrong with the actual phone.  I really don't get your post or why you had a hard time with the paragraph you quoted.  Its logical that MAYBE it is just a bad phone she got.  I didn't tell her to get another iphone.

Her complaints seem technical, which is what i addressed.   And yes, technical issues can turn someone off of something.  It doesn't matter to me whether you keep your phone or not, however, its logical if people aren't having the same problems and something is wrong with the phone, it may simply be a bad phone.

As for your music, you should still have your music yes as it came from your itunes?  How else did you get the music on the phone if you didn't drag them in from itunes?

freyjasdottir -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 7:20:19 AM)

Some people do have technical issues with phones because what they want from a phone isn't quite what the phone delivers. My plan mates' Blackberry is constantly going back to the shop because of tech issues but for someone who doesn't use it as hard as she does it would probably work fine. I have the Evo (we're on Sprint) and I love it.

NuevaVida -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 8:00:38 AM)

Hey everyone, thanks for the replies.

Yes, the issues are technical, although I do struggle with the touch keypad, but I'm finally getting used to that.

The phone's function is exactly what I wanted/needed from a phone, but it's just not working the way it should.

I just checked my receipt this morning and unfortunately my 30 day window was up YESTERDAY - ugh - but I'm going back to the store today to see what they can do to help.  It's really frustrating.

It's not an issue for me, of switching from AT&T.  I've never had issues with AT&T - where I live, and where my mother lives, and where my Man lives - there have never been coverage issues.  I travel about a 100 mile radius, regularly, and some of the other carriers do not cover all those areas, but AT&T does.

It's just the dang phone. I went to the Apple discussion boards last night and apparently I'm not the only one with problems - the camera is a problem for many users and Apple has yet to provide a solution.  Issues with calls are also something other users are experiencing (can't answer the phone, delays in placing calls, etc.).

I'm not overly concerned about the battery.  I charge it when I go to bed, and I have a car charger, so even though the battery life sucks, I've found a way around it.

I just want the dang thing to do what it's supposed to.  Maybe they'll swap it out for another, we'll see.

Appreciate all the comments, and Valyraen, if I run up against problems at the store tonight I might email you for some options, if that's ok.

I'm late to work now so off I'd go. I'd call in and tell them...but.....LOL

sexyred1 -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 8:07:48 AM)

I wanted an iPhone but will not give up Verizon. I got a Droid 2 a few weeks ago and I really like it.

I have no issues with the battery life; you need to charge these phones every night, then no problems.

My only problem with the Droid is typing; I have longish nails so I had to get the one with the pull out keyboard and between that and the touch screen, it has been a bit challenging to type but otherwise, no dropped calls, etc.

windchymes -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 8:21:20 AM)

The phone itself should still have a warranty, which might be as long as one year. If yours is defective, as it sounds, they should replace it with the same model for free. I know you don't like this particular phone, which is what the replacement would be, but if it works correctly, you can probably live with it, or maybe even start liking it, lol.

I ran into this situation with my LG Envy Touch a couple months back. The touch screen stopped working....not broken, just touch and nothing happens, like the contact pad or whatever it's called went numb. The Verizon store replaced it on the spot, since they had one in stock, and even transferred all my info into the new phone for free.

I guess I'm just old, but when this contract is up, I'm going back to a simple phone with buttons. Might even switch to Cricket or Jitterbug. I'm also getting suspicious of the phones they offer in the "new every two" program. I'm starting to think they're just the crap phones that have had problems and they start giving them away to get rid of them.

I had Mine all of ten minutes and realized I was going to have the same issue.  I'm finding that I'm having a lot more success with My knuckle, rather than My fingertip.

Still bad enough with the typos that I doubt you folks will ever see Me posting from the phone unless it's a real emergency.

sexyred1 -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 9:24:25 AM)

Yes, when I went to the Verizon store the guy took one look at my nails and said, you don't have much choice in Droids. You have to get the Droid 2 which was the only one with a pull out keyboard.

I don't even think my nails are all that long, but apparently for a touch screen they are.

WTF? I use my touch screen with acrylic nails and I've seen tons of other women do so. That's BS. Play around with the sample phone - you'll have to adjust how you touch (lean your finger to the side for example) but it's entirely workable.

ETA - I am also a happy iPhone user. Just try to pry my baby out of my hands. *cuddles her precious*

LadyPact -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 9:36:05 AM)

In My case, I don't think playing with it for a bit is going to be the solution.  It's going to take actual practice.  LOL.

Aqua, I tried to use the touch screen keyboard and it does not work as well as the pull out one. I can use the touch screen functions perfectly for everything else, other than typing.

rosanegra -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 10:17:30 AM)

I think if you were told you had to have a Droid 2 because of how long your nails are, you were given a line of crap meant to convince you to buy a more expensive phone. I have an Ally, which is the "budget" droid, and it has the pull down keyboard too. I've used it both with and without nails, and it works perfectly fine either way. I don't usually use the touch screen for typing, since I have big fingers anyway, but it works perfectly fine with nails.

Any phone is going to be harder to use with long nails, but I really think you must have been ripped off.

TreasureKY -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 11:54:17 AM)

I'll add Firm's .02 in here for him with regard to the Android.  He loves his and is never without it.  I've said before, if they ever get to the point where the phones give blowjobs and pick up dirty socks, I'll be out of a job.  [;)]

allthatjaz -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 3:03:19 PM)

Blackberry is great if you need a business phone because its contact data base is much easier to use if your dealing with companies. The other thing is its ability to edit Microsoft office documents, especially Excel. The blackberry keyboard is much faster and so if you have a lot of typing to do your better off with a Blackberry than an Iphone.
We used to have the Iphone3 but now have the Iphone4. We didn't have any problems with the 3 but the 4 is just better at everything. Its more a personal phone that has everything on it. It integrates beautifully with things like Google Earth and navigation systems and the applications for the Iphone4 are mind blowing in advance technology.
If all you want is a phone, then the Iphone is complete overkill but if you like gadgets, the Iphone4 is a very useful one to have in your pocket.

I have quite strong nails so I keep them a bit longer, never been a problem with a touch screen phone, personally I didn't like the Blackberry very much and the iPhone syncs nicely with the rest of the Mac stuff, keeping different email accounts is easier with the Blackberry but otherwise I do like the iPhone apart from their retarded politic that only stuff Steve J. approves of can run on your iPhone, I freaking paid for the thing, I want to be able to run on it whatever I want....

NuevaVida -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 6:07:05 PM)

Ok so I called Apple and they're having me do a software update on the phone, which they say should resolve everything, and if it doesn't, I can swap the phone out for another iPhone.  Works for me....I think. [8D]

As for the keypad/touchscreen discussion, I have long nails, too, and I really preferred my QRTY keyboard on my Blackberry.  The touchpad is really taking some time to adjust to, but I'm getting better at it.  The trick for me was to not text with my thumbs, but use my forefinger.  Or, if I'm going to use more than one finger, I kinda use the sides of my fingertips, to avoid my nails.  This meant for the first couple weeks I was always hitting the letter NEXT to the one I intended.  Ugh.  But I'm getting better.  Still, it's been pretty painful to get used to.  It's just learning a different technique, when your brain has been programmed to do it the "old" way.

Well, after a 25 minute system update, my camera is working again.  Let's just hope my calls aren't dropped anymore.

I must add, the Apple Tech Support folks are incredibly polite and helpful.
