Am I the only one out here who doesn't think the iPhone is the most awesome thing on the planet?

My Blackberry died, so I got an iPhone. I got the G3 since I didn't need a G4.  Got it only about 3 weeks ago.  The camera doesn't work already.  The phone drops my calls all the time.  When I make a call, there's a lonnnng delay before it actually rings on the other end.

I'm about to take it back.  They better take it back!  This thing's a piece of crap.

Please tell me I'm not alone in this.  Please.

That'd be the lovely AT&T service. I use that service, but only for my iPad.....so no dropped calls. For calls and such, I use a Blackberry through Sprint.

PyrotheClown -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 9:50:15 PM)

I never caught on to the whole "your phone needs to do absolutely every single thing your computer does" thing
as much of a mac addict as I am

I got a casio boulder cause I kept breaking phones

the thing is great...has the one ap that matters, a flashlight

and extra strong battery

and it's a ghetto blaster when I want it to be...I love it...

I also use it to open bottles

Never had an issue with AT&T service on my Blackberry.  I have worse reception with the iPhone than I did the Blackberry.  I'm about to tank it.

Well, I don't need it to do everything, but, well, making phone calls is a good start.  [8D]

Knightwalker -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:00:25 PM)

I have had all four major carriers at one time or another. The one I've had the least trouble with (and the one that's been consistently cheapest for the most features) has been Sprint. Yeah, some phones on AT&T are ok...but the iPhone ain't one of 'em.

NuevaVida -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:03:44 PM)

Sprint is crap in my area.  I'm going to try to take this beast back.  I am totally unimpressed.

Then get a regular cellphone...you know...one without a giant "Break me" screen...maybe one that has a number pad on it lol

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:05:05 PM)

Its a Mac made product...

you expected it to work and preform instead of just look pretty?

Go for an android based phone ^_^ you wont be sorry...

NuevaVida -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:11:27 PM)

Considering the Android.  My brother has one and loves it.  I got the iPhone because everyone under the sun recommended it.  I use it for photos, internet access, email and, of course, talking.

rosanegra -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:19:26 PM)

I have an android. It is, quite literally, the 8th wonder of the world. It does everything I need it to, and then some. I run my own business so I had to have a smart-phone because being able to answer e-mails promptly is a major asset as a small business owner. I used to be a hardcore crackberry addict, but the Android has made me a through and through convert! Android + Verizon = WIN! I know other carriers have them, but the coverage I have with Verizon is the best available..

Admittedly, we pay a premium for our smart-phone usage but the fact is, my laptop just doesn't always cut it.. if there isn't wi-fi access available, I still need to get to my e-mails. There is also a program I can get that will let me turn my 'Droid into a wireless hot-spot all it's own, I just haven't done it yet.

That said, if you don't need constant access to the internet for some reason or another, don't shoot yourself in the foot by getting a smart-phone (other than, perhaps, the IPhone)  because if you know how to use it, it will hook you and you'll never be able to go back!

NuevaVida -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:23:23 PM)

LOL rosanegra, I've become quite accustomed to having a smart phone, as I've had a Blackberry for the last couple of years.  I do check my email from it, and I like the GPS feature since I'm always getting lost.  Plus, I'm a Google-freak.  The Man is always laughing at me because any time he or his daughter "wonder" about something, my next response is, "I'll Google it!" and my phone is in my palm before ya know it.

But....I do want a functioning camera.  And it would be nice to talk on my phone, too. [;)]  Ugh.

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:28:59 PM)

The Cameras on the various Droids have amazing cameras, I have the Moto droid gen 1 and I dont need a digital camera any longer....

rosanegra -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:35:50 PM)

If you love google, what better than a google based phone? Also, the GPS/Navigator feature on droid is run from google maps... It's better than my friggin Tom-Tom! It gives the voice directions. The camera on my particular droid is nothing super fantastic.. I have the budget version, the Ally, because I can't see spending $200 on a phone I will probably break, lose, or have stolen from me within a year (I have a habit of going through expensive phones like... I dunno what.. condoms?)

If you are taking your iPhone back, though, hurry! If you've had it for three weeks, you're getting close to the 30 day return period they give you. Take it back TOMORROW, if you can.

I do the same thing with the husband with regards to google.. and he does it to me too, now that he has a 'droid. I seriously cannot sing the droids praises enough. The only real gripe I have is the battery life.. but that isn't as much of an issue when I am not constantly using it for something lol!

SpiritedRadiance -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/3/2011 10:46:54 PM)

Rose the battery life is only an issue if you dont have a good task manager... With the New os even if you use advanced task manager... it doesnt kill it in the services section...I use advanced task cleaner pro which is a free ap and it stops the services as well as the aps.

Nope you are not [:)]

I also got the G3 as I also had the view not to need the G4 which was about to come out about 3 weeks after I ordered mine.

I preferred my Nokia N95 way more to that one but "dared" to give me a treat [8|] which went wrong [>:][>:][>:]

I knew that it is a touch type phone but it annoys me how easily you misstype due to coming onto the letters next to it and it took quite a while until I got regular my email access as fast as with my previous phone.

right now it is in my drawer as I need to return it to a shop as my light went off inside...I can read messages etc but its a bit harder to do so when the screen is almost black. The only reason I had not done that so far was as I used it as my ipod before as I could not find my normal ipod after moving home...

The only aspect where I prefer it to my previous phone is the camera as that one is fool proof, so even I am able to use it [:)]

But apart from that function I am not thrilled about it.

SexyBossyBBW -> RE: I hate my iPhone (1/4/2011 2:23:20 AM)

I'm with you...  Well, I don't hate the Iphone, but I know my sis has plenty of trouble with hers; receiving calls/messages, making calls, a real piece of crap, no offense intended, apple lovers.
While I don't want to advertise for Tmobile, I keep my phones simple (good battery life for talking, and an ability to text), and have never had a problem.   I've been able to use my phones anywhere in the US, in Europe (Norway, Portugal), and Africa, so, cannot complain.    M

I'm actually absolutely happy with mine, the only thing that I don't like is the battery life could be better

I felt the same at my previous phone but then developed the habbit to put mine on charge every night when I am off to bed...that way most of the time it lasts (unless I was too much engaged on it with browsing the internet on public transport or at work)....

Speaking as an insider...

As long as you're within the 30-day buyer's remorse period, you shouldn't have any problem returning it and having your upgrade eligibility reversed, or exchanging it for another phone. The iPhone does have a 10% restocking fee, which they may be able to waive since you're returning it due to device issues. If you got it from a store, you'll have to return it at that same store.

If you're considering exchanging it and don't want to go with the iPhone, my suggestion would be to check out either the Samsung Captivate or one of the Windows Phone 7 devices - the Android OS is going to be relatively similar in style, and I don't have any firsthand experience with the WP7 to offer a suggestion there.

Feel free to Cmail me on the other side if you'd like to pick my brain.
