I live in Iowa.......tornadoes, heat, humidity, bugs, bizzards, deep freeze cold, wind, ice storms, snow, even an occasional light quake, slides if you build in the wrong place.

I do not feel sorry for Californians. I don't feel sorry for Iowans either.

I've lived in the South Bay Area of California (south of San Francisco). There's less of a worry of mudslides and snow here, but more of earthquakes and fires. Fortunately, the place I live has been relatively free of both of them, but also seems to be too far from where the fun happens ):
