ORIGINAL: tweakabelle Afghanistan turned out to be one of the last nails in the coffin of the Soviet Empire. Will Afghanistan do a repeat performance with the American Empire? One way to find out is to stay there - but is it a question that the American people really want answered? How long before the West realises that the people of the Middle East/Central Asia do not want Western interference in the running of their countries? That there will be trouble and warfare as long as Western armies remain in the region? There always has been, there always will be. How long before we accept that the question of which armies and governments operate in the Middle Eastern countries is a question for the local people to decide? That it is not a decision to be made in the West by Westerners? That the best question for Westerners to consider is how quickly we can extract our armies permanently. Hahaha, I thought that too, back in the beginning, Afghanistan lead to trhe warsaw pact breaking up, will the same happen with Nato, and with that, Russia ceasing to be the threat it was, maybe the same will apply to America. Western forces have not learned from the Russian occupation, Afghanistan is the proving ground that has broken many armies in the past. But as an American led invasion, is Vietnam being repeated here and with that, screw this one up, do you not think it is about time you gave up with military intervention in other countries, as every time the US is involved, it is always a messy result.
