Isn't this rather less than politic? I mean it is perhaps slightly above stupidity (and only slightly), but hey, snow in the winter? WTF? What is the larger issue I am not seeing?

Two interesting articles on the religion and faith of global warming/cooling/climate change: 1. http://thurly.net/0ihz and 2. http://thurly.net/0igk The hysterical ones act more like religious disciples than scientists. But that is where we are at in the world... feel good trumps reasoning.

unfortunately.. he doesnt seem to be very good at responding to questions or statements in this section of the board. So we may be waiting for a while. I just can't believe that some knuckleheads doubt global warming, yeah of course CO2 that we produce more and more doesn't go anywhere... Duh.... The polar caps aren't melting, let's pretend nothing is wrong because it's so much more comfy - crossing the road with eyes closed seems like a good idea, if I can't see the cars it means they aren't there...

Quite. It isn't like there's the best part of forty years' research into it, or anything. Al Gore made it up because he wanted to make a scary fillim after he lost the election in 2000...

The global climate changes constantly. Al Gore and his ilk will say will are all doomed because of something that has always happened. Uncle Al always seems to leave out the cooling part of climate change. Al has been pretty quiet lately. I kind of miss seeing the photo of the polar bear floating away on a shrinking slab of ice.

I don't like Al Gore and think he's a hypocrite, but there are plenty of scientists who can tell you all about global warming and how the climatic changes are more drastic, sudden and random than anything we ever experienced, but yeah, it's so much more convenient to just say it's all natural and it's a hoax.... For the meteorologically challenged...the bigger the snow storm, the bigger the rain storm...the WARMER the air holding that moisture. To the extent that we see larger snows and rains and BTW larger hurricanes, it is directly as a result of the air around the world...being WARMER. Think kinkroids, we know that when we burn oil and coal, we do NOT burn it ALL. The are particles of matter that remain UNBURNT. Many of these are described as not surprisingly 'unburnt hydro-carbons.' Imagine that. Some of these particles make it into the upper atmosphere. There they act as does the glass ceiling in a greenhouse (remember that ?) and produce an atmospheric ceiling where less and less heat escapes, is no longer attenuated and produces a man-made layer of carbon in the atmosphere. This warms the air around the globe. I have an idea... Let's burn all of the remaining oil we know of an estimated 150 BILLION TONS, and only 80-90% of that so we have15 to 30 BILLION tons of unburnt hydro-carbons in the atmosphere. Happy now ? Did you make enough money to breath ? Make enough money to escape the effects ? No you didn't. That's ok...we'll evolve.
