My first thought was, there are days I would consider this man a hero! [:D]

I couldn't agree more.  I might be in lust.

Note that one of his victories is over Adult Friend Finder, which is married to Alt.com.  [:)]

If the guy sold a DIY kit showing how to fight spam for the common man/woman, this could be a different world...

Note that his wins are not due to spam - it's due to the spammers not spamming correctly.

LOL.  It is hard to get happy over anyone who sues others for a living.

Daddysredhead -> RE: Man suing email spammers (12/27/2010 12:07:33 PM)

I disagree, hunky, I work for attorneys. Suing folks for stupidity is my bread and butter. :)

pahunkboy -> RE: Man suing email spammers (12/27/2010 12:37:51 PM)

red- you are not the plaintiff.     Someone who chronically is a plaintiff simply can not get along with others.

sunshinemiss -> RE: Man suing email spammers (12/27/2010 1:53:45 PM)

... or is someone who knows how to work the system...

submaleinzona -> RE: Man suing email spammers (12/27/2010 3:42:03 PM)

E-mail spam never really bothered me that much. I just wish I had a junk filter for my regular mailbox.

Chronically letigious people are discovered at the onset of any consultation with an attorney. Just because they know how to bring up a case doesn't mean that they will always find favor with the judge, nor does it mean that they will get past the consultation or filing their first petition with the Court. I've seen and heard a lot of idiots say "I'll take them to Court!" or even better, the people who tell others to "Take that person to Court, they can't do that to you!" What is hysterical to me is listening to people try to state a basis for the claim that they want to make against another person. If someone wants to try bringing a case forward, go for it. Most of the time, the strange ones don't get past the starting gate and the judges throw the case out unless it has some legal merit.

The difference between this Gentleman and someone who is chronically litigious is the latter sues over anything, everything and nothing. This Gentleman targets specific repeated violations by marketers who don't care until they have to pay a pretty penny. Someone needs to do the same with those who propogate viruses and malware. If I could regain damages from every time I've been affected by malware I could quit my job too. And I really hate my job.

Actually kc, that is an interesting topic in and of itself. Other than the occasional keylogger and bank fraud, how do people who write virii and malware get anything out of it ? They attack the widest platform (Windows) for the maximum effect. Before considering where the money goes, consider where it comes from. McAfee's, Norton's, them guys right ? Those places are the major port for the intake of money.

So who writes the malware, the virus ? You think programmers who can easily make a hundred grand a year legit would waste their time ? I certainly wouldn't. Somebody is paying them, and my guess is it's people who have money and a vested interest in the propogation of the problem. And somehow miraculously they find cures for these problems, quite swiftly in fact. So swiftly that you need constant updates. So swiftly that you need to "register" and pay. Note the word pay.

This guy induced you to pay that guy. Who is ignorant enough to not think that they might possibly know each other ? That perhaps they are in cahootz ?

I run with nothing but  popup blocker. Even Windows can't find itself. Nothing can, updates are off. My shit still runs. Despite the fact that I had a problem recently, because that was tracked back to a faulty RAM stick. It cost me nothing to fix. McAfee would have scanned and found 11,223,870 infections, wasted my time "curing" them all and nothing would have changed. Norton would have found 55,834 malwares and spent hours removing them and the end result would be the same.

Except for the fact that they would have my money.

Y2K anyone ? In 1999 I set my PC to IIRC this year, when the day/dates coincide. Guess what, nothing happened. Fear sells, but I am not your average customer. I ran for years with absolutely no antivirus, antimalware, anti anything and not even a firewall and guess what. I have files that are almost old enough for the army.

The problem with spammers is that enough people bite to make it worthwhile. Apply the same logic here as when the PC did not exist. If they call you they are selling. If you call them you are buying. Works on the phone, works for junk[snail]mail, works for door to door salesmen. Guess what, it works on the internet as well.

Was it P.T. Barnum ? "There's a sucker born every minute".
