Could you date someone who has the same first name as your ex of many years?

Why or why not?

Sure. Why not? When you break up with someone would you disqualify everyone with that same name from the dating pool? Nah. Would probably make life a lot easier. I don't know how it is on your side of the fence, hunky but as a straight male there is no greater sin than slipping up and calling your current by your ex's name. No problem if they have the same name.

...tho- I want fresh merchandise- a fresh start- I do not want to replay the past.   So maybe it is me- tho I would have to know more to be firm on that.

Yep. I can't think of a reason I wouldn't.

Technically, I don't date.  However, as close as I get to the concept, yes I can and I have.

Two good ones for you.

Both My first slave and clip share the same first name.

The person that was in My training collar in GA had the same first name as My ex husband.

I've recently met someone named Mark. This makes the 5th one in 6 months. My girlfriend says that every time I meet another Mark her man brings home another cat, and for the love of god, stop dating Marks!

The cats stay, but the Marks are fleeting...

But to answer your question, I was married to a Tim for 14 years and if I were to date another Tim, I could probably get over the weirdness by using a nickname like Sir, Master, LordandMaster, MostBenevolent...

That's kind of funny, now that I actually think about it, because that is one of My examples above.  I mean, I knew, but until you pointed it out, I'd never really thought about it.

We could start a 'ex-husband named John' club.

At one point I was dating 2 Daves and a David. That was easy. No name mix up at all. After that, I found "hun", babe or darlin' worked for me.

I think it would depend on my experiences with the ex and how deep I would connect with the new date...

If someone would have the same name like that ex who is still my best friend and rock in my life...no problem...

however I feel quite uncomfortable to date guys with the name andrew due to a previous colleague who was harrassing me way over the top (was glad when my manager did not let him work at our workplace anymore after she realised to the extend the went) and another rather unpleasant experience with someone with that name. So personally I prefer not to have an andrew in my private life but if I would fall for someone then it could still happen...I feel the same way about men with the starsign aquarius due to my bad experiences I have with that starsign due to my dad and grandpa and ex being that sign...saying sometimes I dont need to continue that "tradition" which it seem to become now (grandpa was one, dad was one and SIL is also that sign)...so I rebell quite a lot aganst that particular sign.

But realisitically...life does take funny turns, so I could not exclude it, even when the latter is rather difficult for me to imagine.

Well, if you get a tattoo...I once saw a craigslist ad from a woman who only wanted to date men named Bob.

yeah sure why not?

They're not the same person. Just the same first name. Would make no difference to me.

Sounds like you're leaving your mark....

And, sure why not? I can't remember their dang names anyway, so they all become Darlin'...

I admit, it sort of weirds me out, seeing as it's happening to me with consecutive men. I'm glad it's a variant spelling, that helps. It would have been a lot easier as well if the ex and I had parted on better terms. That's the main issue for me, right there.

edited for spelling
