Fella, I just looked at your profile, and you demand that the first meet be at your place.  I'd advise against that - sometimes you decide that when you meet someone, you wouldn't want them to know where you live.  Common safety dictates that you meet in a public place.

What he said. Also, it's going to be a turn off to a lot of folks. Violates standard Internet safety and is just creepy, IMHO. How the hell do I what some stranger I'm meeting for the first time is going to do to me in their house?

It barely matters anyway, why begrudge the man his policies?

As a test, I put a 'before sending a first email, type 'xxx' in it.' dealie, like you see in a lot of profiles to see who's reading.

Very few of the drive-by hellos said anything of the sort. The ones that did, kudos; but you're in the minority. People just don't read, and get offended when you ask them to.

Standard internet safety... pssh. As far as I've seen that's less safety and more an excuse to not get caught seen in real life.

i live in a large apartment complex with almost 300 apartments. so it's safe. on the other hand, i have met people at other places before. i put that in there to see if anyone would do it. and 1 did. she never came inside, but we did walk around the block. we are still talking online.

I personally would only feel comfortable meeting in a public place, not even a parking lot. One of the first things I learned in Kindergarten was don't go anywhere with a stranger alone ;).
