FirmhandKY -> Politically Correct Christmas Greetings (12/22/2010 9:16:40 AM)

From the internet (not mine, in other words), but interesting and I though worth posting in the P&R forums:

All:

Please accept with no obligation, explicit or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious/secular persuasions and/or traditions at all; and a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year of 2011, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures, and without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, sexual preference, or computer platform choice of the intended recipient of these wishes.

By accepting this greeting, you are accepting these terms: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually facilitate any of the wishes for the recipient(s) of said greeting, and is void where prohibited by law, and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher. This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year, or until issuance of a subsequent greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to the replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher. Furthermore, the order of recipients' email addresses in the header does not necessarily reflect any degree of fondness, indifference, or dislike for the intended recipients as perceived by the sender of this greeting.

Any statements in this greeting about future expectations, plans, and prospects for good tidings and world peace, including guidance about future implementation of those wishes, and other statements containing the words "happy," "merry," "joyful," "hope," and similar expressions, constitute forward-looking statements within the meaning of The Holiday Greeting Reform Act of 1995. Actual results may differ materially from those indicated by such forward-looking statements as a result of various important factors, including: our dependence on the good will of others; and other factors discussed in our latest quarterly report on Form 10-K filed with the North Pole Greetings and Salutations Commission on August 16, 2010. In addition, the forward-looking statements included in this greeting represent our status on the good/bad list as of December 23, 2010. We anticipate that subsequent events and developments could cause our views to change, but our desire for those views to be realized will not. However, while we may elect to update these forward-looking statements at some point in the future, we specifically disclaim any obligation to do so. These forward- looking statements should not be relied upon as representing our views as of any date subsequent to December 23, 2010.

The reader is strongly advised to watch out, and to not pout or cry.

As a last resort, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

All My Best,

Firm

I shall review this and if found legal, offer some sort of festive reply in kind if approved by my legal team.

Why does this thread invoke memories of the Coneheads ?

Consume mass quantities but do not pilot any Earth vehicle which utilizes fossil fuel. If so equipped and igniting a celebratory pyre, be sure that it does not consume surrounding flammable items unintentionally. If using decorations which use current from the copper strands in your abode, make sure such decorations bear the mark of approval from the Underwriter's Laboratories.

OK  I posted a few politically incorrect options, now I will do a single politically correct song, so with out further adieu please watch the following before scrolling down to read the "rest of the story".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABtGCzbALkM&feature=watch_response

Now as the late Paul Harvey used to say "Here's the rest of the Story":

In the mid 80's a local Philadelphia musician, Alan Mann heard (as I have heard the story told) of a group home for the blind in Upper Darby, Pa.  Every year the houses on the particular block engaged in a sort of "decoration competition" and every year the group home was the brightest and most beautiful house on the block.  He penned this tune as a tribute (I would guess) the the spirit and resolve of those blind people.  Other than You Tube I NEVER hear this tune anywhere but of Philadelphia radio station WMMR (93.3 FM and WMMR.com) as the rumor is they bought the rights to the song after Alan died by falling out a second story window, while waiting for the fire dept.  There was a fire in the kitchen, and he was in the front of the second floor residence; which if you are familiar with Philadelphia can be up to 80 feet away, however he lost his seat, and fell landing on his head, he died of brain injuries three or four days later.

One of Alan's local hits happened to have the rather ironic title "Fear of heights", it was a sad end for a very talented musician.  Feel free to watch the video again:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABtGCzbALkM&feature=watch_response

Also feel free to read the following story about Alan in the Philadelphia City Paper (a local weekly):

http://citypaper.net/articles/2004-02-26/music.shtml

I'd like some feed back on the tune, so I can post the comments on the You Tube site.

Actually Pastafarians do celebrate holidays. International Talk Like A Pirate Day being the most famous example though not the only holiday. We are generally getting ready to celebrate the holiday called Holidays at this point.

Have a happy Holidays everyone!

What holiday do the Satanists celebrate this time of year, I wonder?

Termyn8or -> RE: Politically Correct Christmas Greetings (12/22/2010 9:47:24 PM)

Maybe Alex Jones could field that. Somewhere in his files about KLUM or Bohemian Grove or something.

Or it could be Halloween. I know people who celebrate Halloween more elabortely than Christmas. Maybe I'll ask, but it seems from the music they listen to..............

Actually Christmas shouldn't even be this time of year. Whoever had the bright idea of putting holidays during the time when people have enormous heating bills, bad roads and would like to hibernate should have his head examined. But oh well, I guess when you're the Pope........

All I want for Christmas
is my two front feet,
my two front feet,
see my two front feet.

Gee, if I could only
have my two front feet,
then I could wish you
"Merry Christmas"
