How sad and pathetic our society has become. * I * believe the School originally said they could be weapons, then seeing how assinine they were changed the story. Cuz they sure ain't talking now.

And no offense to anyone.. but c'mon.. how dangerous and destructive do you think a group of HS boys that call themselves " the Chrismas Sweater Club" could be ?

HAYMARKET, Va. (WUSA) -- They call themselves the "Christmas Sweater Club" because they wear the craziest ones they can find. They also sing Christmas songs at school and try their best to spread Christmas cheer.
Now all 10 of them are in trouble because of what they did at their school.
"They said, 'maliciously maim students with the intent to injure.' And I don't think any of us here intentionally meant to injure anyone, or did," said Zakk Rhine, a junior at Battlefield High School.
The boys say they were just tossing small two-inch candy canes to fellow students as they entered school. The ones in plastic wrap that are so small they often break apart.
Skylar Torbett, also a junior, said administrators told him, "They said the candy canes are weapons because you can sharpen them with your mouth and stab people with them." He said neither he nor any of their friend did that.

I don't think so, PA. I'm 53 with arthritis and rotator cuff isssues now, and I still think I could ward off a candy cane wielding Christmas Sweater Club Boy.

The problem is that the candy canes genuinely are sharp when compared to the administrators. Seriously, if this is the kind of work these clowns do, I know a great way to reduce the cost of education.

Sadly, subinlife it's already happened. This story is absolutely ridiculous. Either someone's leaving out some VERY important details or school administrators have my undying respect for being the most capable people I have ever seen at not being able to see the forest for the itty bitty gnat that even the baby bullfrog wasn't interested in. The day I can be seriously injured or die from a candy cane attack is the moment I deserved to leave the gene pool.

On a happier note, candy canes are yummy and I can poke people with them.

Now THAT is holiday cheer!

Ok... I can see making them stop because they were being a pain in the ass. I wouldn't like to have candy canes thrown at me when I was trying to go to class. So if there wasn't a way in where I could avoid them, I might be pissed.

But seriously... "Because you can sharpen them with your mouth and stab people"? They weren't doing that. They were possibly being annoying and - in my opinion - probably a pain in the ass to those students who don't like being showered with candy. But those things are no more a weapon than a pencil or pen. Both of which require far less effort before stabbing someone.

This does bring back childhood memories of doing that very thing, sucking them down to a needle-sharp point and then stabbing each other. We often drew blood, till Mom would yell at us and then take them away, lol.

I wonder if it is wrong that I give my nieces and nephews FULL SIZED candy canes every year. They could poke their eye out or something.

Unfrigginbelievable.

That's all i have to offer, really? Showering fellow students with candy canes got these kids in trouble? They must not have a whole lot to worry about if miniature holiday candies worked them up into this sort of uproar.

A delaware 6 year old was suspended for bringing his cub scounts utility kit to school.

A South Carolina high school freshman has been expelled from school for possession of a butter knife.

a 10-year-old girl in Ocala, Florida is facing felony weapons charges for bringing a steak knife to school

Its been going on for years. This doesnt surprise me at all. School districts passed a zero tolerance policy. Seems that policy also included a zero thinking clause as well.
