I am trying to figure out why anyone would care, other than the weird historic artifact thing.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Koran written in Saddam Hussein's Blood (12/21/2010 5:16:41 PM)

Give it to Fred Phelps and maybe we can kill 2 birds with one stone.

Only if they poison the pages like in that movie, "Name of the Rose."

allthatjaz -> RE: Koran written in Saddam Hussein's Blood (12/22/2010 5:20:05 AM)

He was a complete nut job. He put his pet dog on trial because it bit his wife and he sentenced it to a painful death. Fortunately a vet who was owed a favor by Saddam, managed to save it.

We should allow all islamo-nutjobs to write their own personal korans in their own blood... well, after they are DEAD. Huuuu ahhhhh! (OOOOO rah for Marines)

The book is a good read, too.

I wonder if Christian blood is a different color.  *ponders*

Not really.  Although strangely enough, different ethic groups have different proportions of blood types.  So, I suppose that you could argue that Muslim and Christian blood are different.

TheLikelyLad -> RE: Koran written in Saddam Hussein's Blood (12/22/2010 8:31:48 AM)

If anyone is interested, I read this post a few days ago about Hussein's grotesque (and blasphemous) artifact. The gist of it is that this is one of the most profane and blasphemous acts a quasi-Islamic leader could ever undertake. If the calligraphers had known that they were actually writing it in blood they would have had to refuse--he apparently only told them it was a "special ink." This was the act of an out and out megalomaniac whose ego had spun insanely out of control.

I don't have any particular love for Islam but I do find it interesting when Hussein, a sociopath who by the end of his life pretty clearly believed in nothing except his own ego and survival, is painted as a "pious Muslim" in the Western media. He ranged from indifference to opportunistic pandering to outright hostility toward Islam during his reign. My understanding is that this act would be roughly akin to if Obama (already mistrusted by Evangelicals as Hussein was always mistrusted by pious Muslims) ordered a giant painting of a crucifixion scene with himself in place of Christ hung in the Oval Office.
