I can get pretty snappish with control freaks who mistake outward passivity for submissiveness, behind that passivity lies an ego the size of Manhattan. [;)]

This.

Dominant just means someone who wants to take the lead in his or her interpersonal relationship. It doesn't say anything about intelligence, ethics, integrity, honesty and so on. That's what you have to demonstrate in your dealings with others.

its become clear to me by perusing these forums, that i do not wish to be labeled a "Dom" and be lumped into the same catagory as some people claiming the title.

Is this because you feel unworthy? Or because you feel superior?

(Just wondrin)

Exactly what she said. Are you really that worried about being compared with others?

salemartist -> RE: redefining myself (12/18/2010 8:11:26 PM)

no I dont question my dominance not do I feel unworthy or superior. I guess I don't like labels much anyway, and then I see some folks bearing the same lable acting like fools or idiots, just makes me want to disassociate.

crazyml -> RE: redefining myself (12/20/2010 2:06:22 AM)

And yet you choose another label "A Freak" which also has its fair share of loons, jackasses and losers associated with it?

If you're dominant, and you're looking for a submissive partner/playmate/friend then "Dom" isn't a bad label. It's certainly more informative than "Freak" (and has fewer letters - which is a bonus when replying from your phone).

Sure "Dom" spans a massive spectrum of needs and wants (and an equally wide spectrum of "jackassedness") but most of the smart "subs" are plenty able to distinguish between idiot doms and decent doms.

So, I don't think that your rejection of the term "Dom" is going to be particularly helpful.

That said - You can self-identify any way you like. You could say "I am a platypus" if you wanted to and I wouldn't judge you (much) or question your choice of tag (much).

I'm Kana.
I like B&D, think quite well of S&M, and adore, love and live for D/S.
Master, Sir, Dom, tag me with whatever labels you choose, they do not define me, they do not have anything to do with how I view me or my interactions. They are simply the tags others have chosen to apply to me (and really, they beat other things I've been called, like bastard, son of a bitch, disgusting pervert, etc...) and frankly, I think labels are devices used by lazy thinkers so I care very little what titles/pejoratives others apply to moi.

anniezz338 -> RE: redefining myself (12/20/2010 5:35:26 AM)

It seems to me labels are used just as a first overall visual, like a car, a truck, an SUV, a semi. Then they all branch out into the makes and models and accessories. It gives me a path to start down, in getting to know people from the overall first. Oh, he's a truck....and take it from there.

nicely said, an elequent translation of my own thoughts. I have decided now that I shall only affix one word to the definition of all that is me..."undefined"

salemartist -> RE: redefining myself (12/20/2010 1:29:11 PM)

Ok if I am a truck, can I be a custom?

anniezz338 -> RE: redefining myself (12/20/2010 4:40:36 PM)

Is there any other kind? :)
