GreedyTop -> Robert Aspirin/Jody Lynn Nye Fans.. ALERT! (12/7/2010 11:12:21 PM)

Dear Friends and Readers,

I am proud to announce that Dragons Deal (ISBN 978-0-441-01926-7) premiered today from Ace Books. This trade paperback is the third in the Dragons series begun by Robert Asprin with Dragons Wild and Dragons Luck. Griffen McCandles and his sister Valerie, who learned they are hereditary dragons, have made themselves at home in New Orleans. Griffen has been asked by the Krewe of Fafnir -- all dragons themselves -- to be the king in their Mardi Gras parade. Although he has plenty of responsibilities with his gambling business, he can't resist the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be king. But there are other dragons who are trying to put Griffen out of business, and others whose mayhem will put New Orleans itself in danger.
Dragons Deal is available in bookstores and online. Here are links to online sources:

Other good news: The contract has arrived! Ace Books has commissioned two more Myth Adventures books from me, plus another Dragons novel. I will continue with both series as long as there is demand for them. The first manuscript is due at Ace early in the year. I will post news about titles, synopses and publication dates as soon as I have them.

My next solo novel is View From the Imperium, a humorous science fiction book with a military flair. If you can picture PG Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster in space, you will have an idea of what it is like to follow Lord Thomas Kinago (sixth cousin to the Emperor) and his phenomenally competent aide-de-camp, Commander Parsons across the galaxy. It is due out in April, 2011, from Baen Books.

I hope you will enjoy these books. Please spread the word!

Best wishes,
Jody Lynn Nye

My goddess GT, Robert Asprin is a name I haven't heard for years!

I first saw him as a poor mans Terry Pratchett until I read more of his Myth adventures and identified with Aahz the Pervect immediately!

Thank you for reminding me!

Awww crap!

No I didnt, Whats this world coming to?

Pratchett has Altzheimers and Asprin passes to that great bazaar in the sky Damnit!

Maybe I should quit Helium and start writing comedy again, tag team style with other kinksters.

Just pulled this from Wiki (Yeah yeah I know)

Asprin died May 22, 2008,[6][7] in bed, where he had been reading a Terry Pratchett novel.

And Robert Aspirin was a long time member of the SCA. A lady in the SCA in New Orleans (Barony of Axemoor) wa to pick him up to drive him to the airport to go to a convention. She had talked to him the night before to finalize plans and found him dead in the morning when she arrived.

I include a picture of Bob from the late 70s when he founded the Mongol Horde... "A point of order, your majesties, with all due disrespect..."

That was the Great Dark Horde and they are still going strong many years later. They are the only Great House left in the SCA. Yes, at one point households could become almost a group in their own right and were accorded special rights and privileges. For instance, in at least the Midrealm if you are in the Dark Horde you may come armed before the king. They also have a place in precedence in the parade at Pennsic. They also are annually bribed to provide fighters to one side or the other at Pennsic. I have a number of friends in the Horde and fought beside them in a number of battles over the years. I just never got around to joining despite several invites.

Be well....

Malkinius

And do you know Ioseph of Locksley's song "Who Needs a Crown When You Have a Knife"? Wonderful omage to the Dark Horde.
