no I don't think so.

Nothing stays a secret for very long. Humans aren't very good at doing that.

I personally still wouldn't be interested in prolonging my life like that if it came to light.

There is already life extension- however not to the point of 10x.   Something like 140 years- to no more then 200.

It wont be released until after the great harvest...  which few of us will be here to enjoy anyhow.

In short-  they do suppress some of the "light".

I decided to forego the responses and reply directly.

I case you hadn't noticed, this planet is overpopulated. If each is to be afforded  life, and we don't kill too much, the best thing for the world would be life shortening. That is tough to swallow but is the absolute truth.

I know a bit about what makes us die, as do others. Not only do I not make it public except to a few friends, I think it is a bad thing to disseminate. Hint : all this BS about antioxidants is pure shit.

If you increase the lifespan without decresing the birth rate, you sentence the human race to death. A slow and painful one if that makes you happier.

This is why soap is a good thing AND a bad thing.

Using soap and maintaining cleanliness increases the lifespan of people. In turn this means that their will be less resources to go around.

By increasing the lifespan even further there will be less to go around.

It does not matter if the information is released for the general population will balance itself out through war, murder, suicide, disasters and so on.

come on terraforming........

I agree.

If we increase life spans by 10x, we would need to increase the difficulty of conception by at least 10x.

Well, to start with, we would be radically redefining our conception of elderly. Pick 76 as an average lifespan and go 10x. In such a future, you don't get a social security check until 725. or a senior discount until you are 500. Even the most generous public employee pensions will require 300 years of service to be vested.

The suicide rate would get pretty high, I think.

you would have 10 times all the experiences and memory, your mind would break. over half a millennium of friends who died, heart breaks, violent encounters, traumatizing events, addictions, ect.

say 400 years in your 20th wife was eaten by dingos: no therapy is gonna help anymore, you have heard it all, seen it all, your just sick of it and want to die. you would crave death as you are no longer young in anyway and jaded to all new experiences.

our short lives give us meaning cause we need to get crap done and we dont have to much time here
