itsmeinLV -> How do you get rid of a crush??? (12/1/2010 12:16:31 AM)

Seriously!  Is there a way?  It's been a few years I've known this crush and I've always had a huge infatuation.  Every time I talk/chat/email/etc. with said crush, my feelings resurface.  Every.  Single.  Time.  I'm not a young school girl, so I feel silly whenever I think about it.

Anybody going through or have gone through this and made it out to tell the story???

Again, not asking for intimate details, just wondering.  [;)]

Time.  Distance.  Occupying your thoughts by being busy and living life.

Sometimes a dose of reality can help, but the real issue is not that you have a crush, but that you've made 'possibility' part of your existence.

Either move forward and seduce your crush or dismiss it and move on.  You're attracted to the "what if?", the lure of sexual possibility, and perhaps you'd rather live with that possibility than move forward and perhaps destroy it forever.

Yes, the part I made bold: stop doing that!
Entirely.

"Doctor, it hurts when I do this."
"Don't do that"

It is what worked for me, a very long time ago.

I had it bad for him for 15 years or so.
I went away, came back and he was happily married.

Problem solved.

Or you could enjoy it and let it run its course.

Are you sure this person doesn't have feelings for you? If you're sure, then just tell them how you feel. Rejection should put an end to your feelings real fast. At least, it always has for me. It may be better to just kill the thing quickly, than to let it die a long, agonising death.

Oh the Sunny girl said what I was thinking. Why worry about getting rid of it??? Be realistic but, enjoy it!

Itsme, I've had a crush on you since I saw your first profile.  You're sweet and subbly and super hot.  I've never tried to get rid of the crush, because I think emotions like that are fun.  The trick really is not letting it matter.  I'm dating someone, and I'm not interested in dating you, no offense (not that you'd respond in any case).  But it's still fun to think what I might do if we were alone and unattached.

On the other hand, if your crush disturbs you, maybe you're disturbed because it's pointing out a reason you are unhappy in your relationship.  Then the only way to "fix" the crush is to accept or fix the relationship.  You'll still have the crush, but it won't bother you anymore.

I've told this person how I felt before.  Nothing has come from it and after several years, I thought I was totally over it til these couple few times we've chatted, my feelings started to resurface.

So: 1) stop contacting; 2) move on; or 3) let it run its course (which isn't anywhere so back to point 1 and 2); and 4) not letting it matter.

Alright, gotcha'lls!  [;)]

edit to include: Thanks, RedMagic!  You are sweet!  :)

The joy fade when one cleans the dirty socks, and is pretty much a maid for a mommas boy that never grew up.

Been there.

Yup;

5) Dirty socks.

The silver bullet.
