A few "improvements" ago, I stopped being able to check-mark and delete email messages (I use Google Chrome). I can still check the boxes, and I can still click the delete button, but it immediately pops up an alert that "no messages are checked". When I click the check all button, it doesn't check anything, but then I hit delete and it says "delete all the checked messages?". Just for the sake of trying (in case the check marks had gone suddenly invisible or something), I said yes. Of course, no messages went away. If I want to delete an email, I have to go into it, individually, and hit the delete button inside. LAME.

Your post reminded me of a problem I was having as well. With you saying you used Google Chrome which is what I use I decided to use a different browser to see if it solved my problem. I tried it in AOL and voila worked no problem.

Which still makes it a PIA but at least now I know how to get the dang thing to work right. lol

There was another thread about this, Can't delete mail?, that got me interested in the problem a couple weeks ago. Basically, there's invalid HTML on the Received Mail page that Chrome's JavaScript handles differently than most other browsers. I wrote to support about it, and they were already aware it was issue at the time, but I guess they haven't had a chance to fix it yet. For the time being, they simply suggested using another browser. I suppose some more people politely writing to support might get the bug moved up in priority.

I've experienced the same problem with Chrome but not with IE. Also, the problem with Chrome is not consistent. There have been times I could check and delete messages...but only one at a time. If I check more than one message box, I get the "No messages are checked" thing.

There are other sites where Chrome is not fully functional as well. It's still my preferred browser but sometimes I just have to use IE.

The issue is actually completely consistent in Chrome, but it only affects the Received Mail page. The Delete Checked, Save Checked, Check All, and Uncheck buttons do not work properly because Chrome's JavaScript doesn't recognize the checkbox input elements corresponding to messages as being part of the form they were intended to be in. You can, however, still open a single message and delete it from there as the OP noted. It's really more a problem with the site than with Chrome; the site is counting on browsers to interact with invalid HTML in a particular way – but there isn't a correct behavior defined for handling invalid HTML.
