I have/had too many friends of Native American descent to really get into it. But I can dig the day off, even though I don't get paid for it.

Maybe I'll make my famous chicken paprikash, in fact I mused making turkey paprikash. When the olman was alive alot of times - after we decided turkey was not the holy grail of food - he would make a standing rib roast or something. Sometimes years ago we had cookouts on the holidays, it's warm out there if you stay close enough to the fire.

I try not to make plans, which really makes it a holiday. Plans are like work. I plan to change a CRT and the HVG, then press 062957menu to get into the secret service mode to perform the alignment. When off work, I plan to do whatever I damnwell please.

For some odd reason though, thanksgiving does require the playing of Arlo Guthrie - Alice's Restaurant.

Dinner with some family and possibly a friend or two, watch Charlie Brown Thanksgiving and The Mayflower Voyage, possibly watch Patton as well, or at least have it on.  Talk, play board games.

Pretty much whatever makes for a relaxing day.

I do the baking a lot of prep in advance so that I can feel at ease as well.

We are having it catered this year.  All I have to do is bake one dish, pick up the rest.  It will be great, no long hours of cooking.

Busy fun weekend planned.  The Man is coming up tonight for my bday, then we're going to my brother's tomorrow for a big family Thanksgiving dinner. Friday it's a show in San Francisco, Saturday another Thanksgiving dinner at the Man's house, Sunday we're going to the Raider game, unless he sells his tickets, which he's trying to do.

I so love this time of year

i'm heading up to my parent's after class tonight. (my teacher is evil and insists on having class the day before Thanksgiving.) We're having Chinese food, actually. We'll probably keep it low-key, all the rest of my family, including my brother and his wife are getting together in Long Beach, but my Mom isn't up for travel since she's smack in the middle of chemo. So, my Dad and i are doing what we can to make it nice for her...and, she wants Chinese.

Plans have changed due to weather, which I guess is good.   Don't want old folks driving on ice covered roads.

Found a small turkey (yipee), under 10lbs, making all the trimmings that go with it.  Started cooking today, will continue tommorrow :)  Football, Guy Flicks and whatever will be on the tube. I get to watch Macy's Parade in between cooking, then the remote is handed over to himself, never to be seen again.

Wishing everyone a splendid time :)

happy thanksgiving to all, to those who are travelling, safe journey and please stay with your hosts if you drink. don't need to hear about losing someone to an accident. we are driving 125 miles to my parents home and spending the night. i'll be damned if i'm going to drive home. it'll keep until morning and the young ones want to go see some friends before we head back to the boonies. i'm going to enjoy time with my family.

I'm going to my sister's house. She is an awesome cook and always makes way too much food.

Hope you have a happy thanksgiving also
