Termyn8or -> RE: Not a bummer computer question (11/24/2010 10:13:11 AM)

I got the cover off and it's not bad. Actually PC1 is the worst and it has no problems. On the wall in the back of PC1 there is a black spot on the wall ! That room was kinda smoke central, as the ear numbing machine is there. The bedroom is not so bad. (PC2) I don't even remember how old PC2 is. I don't think it's over 5 years. I'm pretty sure it has a Gateway mobo in it. "dust bunnies napping in the capacitors, smoke film all over your transistors like a slimy rapist? " Nice metaphor. I get that at work all the time, plus mouse dropping and all that fun shit (pun anyone ? ). People just don't realize that you can't use a four layer PC board laden with SMD components using .020" pin spacing as a litterbox either. I've seen the pins literally corroded off the ICs. HA, I used to have a PC, full server case, two power supplies and all that. It was on the floor with the cover off and I guess a mouse got in there and wrecked the soundcard. That's the PC that caused the big power outage years ago. I added yet one more SCSI drive and half the country went dark. If you remember, they traced the origin of the problem to this area. Those drives ate power like a ----- [error 431, no metaphor available]. Since the problem occurred after a faulty software installation, I might need a BIOS flash. Damn these new computers, I don't even know how to do that without a floppy drive. I suppose it's not all that bad, boot from CD I guess. Strange thing about that. Now that all my media is on computers and quite backed up almost, I haven't burned a CD in a long time. I wonder if any of the CD burners work. I dunno, maybe I'll look for the flash for this thing. I'm pretty sure I can burn it on the laptop. Back to this later. Got things to do. T
