A few of my favourites ;

Awesome aircraft !

The last British Bomber And Low Level at 0.32 !

and

Just to prove they can still  do it

Interestingly though, the first gulf war back in '91, Britain was using the last of the V bombers, the Victor as an AAR tanker and the Buccanear as a lazer guided bomber, both aircraft were about fifty years old and were still in service.

LOVED the Blur vid(even if I dislike the song)...   I loved seeing the refueling bit!  usually, all ya get is the view from the tanker..nice to see it from the OTHER side!!  Thanks, A!! *hugs*

That aar refuelling isn't easy, I spent a few nights when I was in the mob trying to mate up an aircraft simulator with a tanker. What I noticed was the basket sways from side to side and one has to match the swaying with your aircraft so the probe can line up with the basket, but before all that one has to match the speed of the tanker and when all is in line, the speed has to be increased ever so gently so the probe enters the basket square on the fuel outlet and then one has to match the tanker's speed again, to keep the probe in the fuel pipe. Tricky stuff and my hat goes off to those that have mastered it for real. I only managed it twice then got bored and decided to see what the inside of the tanker looked like.

I have nothing but pure respect for the refueling wings.. and the pilots that use them!

GreedyTop,

Here is a view from outside the tanker taken from this site:

A UK tanker in action

And the vitue of that beautiful aircraft, STOL, but bloody noisy

I was looking for a video of a display I have seen the tankers do, a Tristar tanker flying in front with wing hoses extended and two other VC10s, a 10 sqn general transport VC10 and a 101 sqn VC10 tanker mated up to those hoses as if refuelling, this airliners we are talking about and that display was at a thousand feet. Pity I can't find a video, as it was very impressive. According to the jockeys though, the VC10 is a pilot's aircraft, loads of power and superb manoeverability.

But the aicraft we had, British designed and built, now what have we got, a level playing field with foreign aircraft, perhaps another indication that Britain is failing.
