Although this is not my complete take on Domination and submission, it was floating around in my head.

I sometimes view Domination and submission as putting two animals or people in a small space and watch them battle it out for the territory who every wins is the Dominant one and who ever doesn't win submits and plays by the other animals rules

Undoubtedly whenever 2 or more people are put together that is essentially always the case. The difference being that at times there isn't a fight or much of one and sometimes it's war. Then if you have 2 very natural subs they simply stare at each other neither wanting to make the rules and not much happens.

Of course that's very general and more applicable to people everyday. Within this lifestyle I think it's slightly different.

Only if they're both the types to fight.

I recall my dog who always wanted to be top dog, being baffled and disappointed when we agreed to take a friend's dog overnight. The other dog wouldn't fight, just handed over whatever toy she had found and looked for something else. She just wanted to play together as friends.

"Men are not gentle creatures who want to be loved, and who at most can defend themselves if they are attacked. They are, on the contrary, creatures among whose instinctual endowments is to be reckoned a powerful share of aggressiveness. As a result, their neighbor is for them not only a potential helper or sexual object, but also someone who tempts them to satisfy their aggressiveness on him, to exploit his capacity for work without compensation, to use him sexually without his consent, to seize his possessions, to humiliate him, to cause him pain, to torture and kill him."

This.

Most things in life are just not important enough for me to fight with someone over.   Then there are also the considerations of what something may mean to someone I care about.

Frankly the choice on movie that is rented or the type of ice cream bought at the store are not really significant in my life.  They are certainly not going to matter in a week.

Buying a house is significant but fighting over the options is not going to garner the best choice.

But that is just me.

That is a description of an utterly feral man, who has had no exposure at all to civilisation. That said, the same impulses are at work within us, however tamed and we've become, to conquer, to rape, to exploit. They manifest themselves in subtle ways now, ie overtime, job performance, competing for clients business, not overtly ie violence/rape.. But by and large we haved successfully redirected that aggressive testosterone to BUILD civilisations worldwide.

Prison cells can be small places with animals in them.

Works for the dominant but the "submissive" is really just a victim. Which kinda fails the consent test that defines a healthy D/s relationship....

Focus.

I see it as more intellectual than animal physical power.  The dominant enjoys getting into the submissive's head and molding her submission.

No, civilisations are built by one man off of the blood of another. We are all sadists at heart.

Are you really Pam? Do you see kittens and want to drown them? Steal candy from babies? Stab your best friend in the back? Because that's what you would want to do if this was true. You certainly wouldn't want to nurture the young and helpless, you wouldn't want to hug your elderly grandmother while she was slowly dying, you wouldn't care about your best friend's heartache - hell you wouldn't even have a best friend.

And if it isn't true for even one of us, then it isn't a universal truth.

Only if you're into takedown scenes ... and with a chosen appellation like yours, I assume you are.

I used to be. Now, they just bore me. A woman who doesn't willingly submit isn't worth my time.

(Kindly don't take that as a character slur; I'm probably not worth your time, either.)

yeah that description doesn't work for me.

The idea of having to fight someone to dominate me just makes me want to run and hide. That's too much work and something that just creeps me out.

For me when I meet someone I feel is a dominant personality I will lay down in front of them and bare my neck.
