TheGaggingWh0re -> Getting gifts while keeping my address anonymous? (11/11/2010 12:27:12 AM)

I am interested if anyone knows if there is a way to accept gifts while keeping my address anonymous. I have a few people who want to buy me things but I am not interested in giving out my address for the final purchase. The website that I am interested in is, unfortunately, not part of a lot of the free registries they have online because it is not a brand name store like Victoria's Secret.

I thought about a P.O. box, but is there another way?

To a friend or family member's place? Maybe something like "mailboxes etc"? If you're going to be accepting gifts on a regular basis, you might want a POBox. They're not expensive or difficult.

They're not? Hmm. I'm considering it but wasn't sure what my options were. Thanks for the reply! :P

Nearly Anything can be gotten from amazon, they allow you personally to keep your address to yourself, however people can send you things. They would gift it to you via the site and amazon would send it to ya.

I had a book drive when I was in Highschool and it was a way to get donations.

A mail box at a place like mail boxes etc, not a PO Box at the Post Office.  It will cost more but it will also give you a physical address that UPS or Fed Ex can deliver to.

I might be an old fuddy duddy, but I have to ask...why in the world would you accept a gift from anyone you would not let know your address?  I am baffled by this.

I belong to a message board where we send each other books and other things, I don't really know these people so I'd rather keep my physical address to myself. Everything gets mailed to my PO Box using my screen name.

Just make sure if you get a PO Box, the site or place that is sending the gift will actually deliver to a PO Box.  Some places won't.....I'd suggest the UPS Store, they'll accept deliveries there.

If they are a pro dom or a money dom, or a sex line worker who has it set up where you can buy her an item on her wish list she'll use it an send it back or they have wishlists that subbies and other people who wish to use,or what ever  then it makes perfect sense that you'd get gifts from people you didn't wish knowing your home addy..

i had a P.O. Box a few years ago. It was like $24 for 6 months. i got the letter sized one, but if you receive mail that won't fit, they just send you a card that says to pick it up at the front desk. Post 9/11 i think the post office makes you show your lease and show utilities in your name before they will give you one.

why not let the PO box fee BE THE GIFT?

I had one for many years- but frankly it became a pain to run for mail.  and to miss mail too.  time sensitive mail.

the cost went up- and I had moved and I was getting stuff from my atty which was very time sensitive- so - I just switched it all to my house.

i thought that UPS sent a card to your PO Box, telling you which UPS to go to to pick up the package.

That's only if you have to sign for the package and you are not there to do so. Then they leave a slip asking if you want it redelivered or it can be picked up at a local station.

Thank you everyone!

We decided to go with a PO box. It's a whopping 50$ for a year, lol! I was surprised at how inexpensive it was. I really appreciate all the input!

Also, thank you for explaining a little bit on why I wouldn't want someone to know my address! Those are excellent examples and my own reason does pertain to work. Normally I wouldn't accept gifts just because of the hassle, but this individual is an amazingly sweet regular... not to mention how tough for me to turn down the offer for a corset or two ;P

I decided not to go with a registry just because I have too much guilt asking for a 200$ corset when I can get them for MUCH less at a wholesale supplier that I can't even add to any registry I've checked out. I wish there was a universal registry, but alas! Hehe.
