I'm writing a book in which the main character wants a girl to call him Master but I can't think of a realistic reason as to why he wants his love interest to call him Master. Can you help me out here please?

Because he finds situations (shit happening) in which he aptly demonstrates his very Domly willingness and ability to protect and provide for her as a Master should, and wins both her heart and eventually, her willing submission this way. Art imitates life, n'est ce pas? [:)] (although I was diggin' the idea of a donut assault. I suppose a girl might need to be protected from one of those. I had an after-hours Skittle fight in a convenience store where I worked once, but my kung fu was superior and I did not require protection that night..)

It's a job title in his organization. Or he wants his name to remain anonymous. Or another way is to have other people calling him 'master' or 'the master' and let the protagonist work on whether or not she'll call him that automatically, or ask him for a name. When/if she asks, he says 'call me Master only if it suits you' but doesn't offer a name. Hell, there's a million different ways to go with it.

Perhaps you can tell a little of the back-story, how he was bullied as school and beaten up by the cheer leading team. This could explain a deep seated lack of self-worth, for which he feels he has to compensate as an adult by making his partners call him "Master"? I know it's a bit "out there", but there might be precedent?

He's just completed either an MSc degree or an MA? More seriously, it's hard to know what would be appropriate without having some information on the characters and their situation. But maybe the woman could start calling the man "Master" either sarcastically (after he made a bad-tempered request that came out more like a peremptory command, for example) or as the result of losing a lighthearted bet. Then one or the other of them could say "you know, I really like the sound of that", and it would become a habit.

For instance, Master can entail dominance and control over a variety of areas as this board attests. Some things are off limits and for a relative few it goes the distance and includes everything under the sun. If you articulated why he sees himself in that role for her and could pinpoint why he's master and how she responds (or how he desires her to respond) to him in that capacity it might help.
