Oh bull shit.

Rand was demonized by the liberal media.

Fucking incredible. I think you and pops are twins. All these months of "I'm for nobody, I'm mr. independent". What a line of shit pa. lol......god

BoiJen -> RE: Rand WINS! YESSSSSSSSSS (11/3/2010 10:12:45 AM)

Firm, Obama has been one of the biggest political disappointments I think (read: hope) I'll ever have to witness in my lifetime. Clinton makes me cry periodically but I can tolerate reflecting on that part of US history without going into a rage (unless you mention NAFTA-because I have an issue with unstructured Global initiatives, no matter who they come from). Moderate Republicans and moderate Democrats tend to make feel the best about our country and who's running it-it's the unfortunate part that moderate Democrats tend not to have a backbone.

It's the extremists on each end that scare the hell out of me. Rand is an extremist.

We should all be standing on our rooftops shouting with glee.

Yeah, he can have about as mediocre and uninspiring and ineffectual string of legislation as his father.

I sympathize with some of both of the Pauls' beliefs, but have never really concentrated on them.  For the father, I never believed that he had a chance in hell for President, and he wasn't in a district that I voted.

The son was elected in what is basically my home district, and is generally conservative.  Since I no longer vote there, I had no part of him getting elected, and didn't spend a lot of time analyzing what I think he'll do and believes in detail.

I''m not sure I buy the "extremist" label, however.  There are lots of other elected reps in Washington that I think deserve that label more.

BoiJen -> RE: Rand WINS! YESSSSSSSSSS (11/3/2010 10:31:53 AM)

Firm, I think that Rand (sr.) had some great ideas in creating transparency within our gov't but I don't vote in Ky. Rand (jr.) just scares me socially speaking with his rhetoric and stated goals. What he has good to say doesn't out weight the negative impacts on our country as a whole should he succeed with all of his stated objectives. That said, if there was a way to filter out the bad and only get the good, I'd be all in. He's not all bad, and I think that's what makes him "dangerous".

I think you're right in that there are a LOT of individuals in our gov't who I would also label as extremists. And therein lies the problem. As Americans, we tune in easier to extreme ideals than we do moderate ones. Libs or Conservatives, extremism on either end would put us all in a world of hurt. I think moderation, is what's really going to get this country going on again. We're just in the middle of swinging too far to the right and left and haven't balanced out again yet.

Then again, I'm nuts. I'm for firearm rights, the death penalty, planned parenthood, Father's rights, gay marriage, legalizing cannabis, social responsibility/regulation of the government and businesses, and government incentives for small businesses and internal infrastructure that made America strong as an economic power to begin with. Taxes are something I'll always have to live with and as long as the roads are taken care of and books and teachers in schools for kids to be taught, I don't much care about anything else.

Sounds like you'll be disappointed by anyone that will ever be elected ever in some way.

Reality would like a word with your idealism, madam.

Rand IS independent.  You watch.   I am very pleased that Rand was elected.

His dad has a perfect voting record.

I am pleased that we may finally get rid of the Federal Reserve.

Vjklander -> RE: Rand WINS! YESSSSSSSSSS (11/21/2010 12:55:39 AM)

I am onboard with the Drs Paul on their fiscal conservatism and most of their social agenda. However their Evangeliban based vitriolic hatred of homosexuals and Religio-Statist views on controlling women's choice and sexual activity is totally unacceptable to me.

If nothing else Rand Paul is bought and paid for by someone other than those who deserve to burn in hell.

Hopefully more.

"I am onboard with the Drs Paul ......"

See how religion wrecks everything. If I were dead I would've rolled over in my grave when Ron Paul wanted to enact strict laws pertaining to a pregnant Mother to be culpability for the protection of the fetus. I can't believe anyone who supports thew spirit of the law in this countrty trying to enact something like that. It's about as repulsive as it gets for me. Even if it is "right" it is wrong, and smacks of legislating morality.

But ironically I would still vote for him. You just can't have it all, and both Pauls are better than just about anyone in there. Despite religion they do have some common sense. Some. Other politicians seem to have none.
