poise -> Chat Requests (11/1/2010 6:43:31 PM)

I was just sitting on the other side reading some mails from some friends here
in the forums when all of a sudden I notice a bright red Chat Request lit up.
I was afraid to click it, because I dont know if by clicking it, I will first see
who it is that's requesting this....or if clicking it means I accept, and
I am then possibly agreeing to converse with a stranger. [:-]
In my panic I did nothing, and soon enough the message disappeared.
Am I not going to be able to see anywhere who sent that to me?
Also....is chat a voice chat thingy? (dont laugh please...this is all still new to me)

Any tricks of the trade will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I get those every so often and I usually decline unless if it is someone I know or they seem interesting....If you click on the chat button it will tell you the user name of who wants to chat with you and you can accept or reject the request.

Whew! Thank you very much.
So since it disappeared, that means the sender had a chance to cancel?
Cute kitty!

It automatically cancels after a period of time (if you do not respond)

Thanks Katy. Apparently it was just a random drive by, as they haven't tried again.

Yep, lots of those around here!

I don't chat or IM - kind of a pet peeve. I've turned the option off so I don't even have to click on the annoying flashing button to reject the request.
Not that there's anything wrong with flashing...

Poise they might be trying again however you can only send a chat invite if the persons shown online in the last three minutes, the request lasts for roughly 5 minutes before it expires.

You have the option of making it a voice and video chat if you would like you also have the option of it remaining  just text.

Thank you for the tips ladies. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your info.
It may have been a fluke with CM, as I just viewed my settings and Chat Requests shows as blocked.
