hertz -> Nominations for 'National Treasure'... (11/1/2010 3:43:18 PM)
|
In the UK, Stephen Fry (immensely intelligent, likeable guy) is described as a 'National Treasure', presumably because he is so English. I read something today which described Mark Twain as a National Treasure for the US, which to my mind sounds exactly right. To me, Huckleberry Finn is the definitive American novel, and Twain deserves every accolade he gets. But he's dead now. Does anyone have any other nominations? Is there a modern-day national treasure for your country (US or elsewhere)? What are the qualifications your nomination brings to the table?
