What will happen to those whose benefits are cut off? If there are no jobs, there are no jobs, what are people supposed to do? Some states are really struggling just to keep inner city funcitons running, if more lose their homes due to foreclosure, it certainly won't help. I used to think it would be best for all involved if we went back to a more simple time, no electricity, cars or engines..everyone growing their own food and providing for themselves. Yes, this would mean computers and cell phones too! I can hear the collective gasp from 13 yr olds nationwide. Maybe this will come to pass yet. Printing more money isn't working.

The people whose benefits are due to end - what happens to them? Will they starve to death in front of everyone, or is there some sort of safety net?

Unemployment benefits are not the only benefits in the US! you can start here And thats only public programs. There a hundreds of other charitable sources of support. I dont think there has been a documented non-medical case of starvation in the US for 70 years. There are so few starvation deaths overall that they dont even rank statistically, and even those are the consequence of abuse or psychological impairment.
