ORIGINAL: MrKicia To start off, im not real handy around the kitchen. My love and I are slowly wading into the whole female dominant thing. So she texted me to tell me to get milk on my way home. When i get home she has me prepare dinner. Tonight is steaks on the grill. Ok, i usually do the grillin' anyway, no problem. I get the steaks going and head into the kitchen to get the plates and silverware ready. Now its mashed potato time... My love has instant mashed potatoes for me to make. Easy enough right? lol. Well i start throwing the ingredients into the bowl. 1 cup cold water 1/2 cup milk 1/4 teaspoon of salt 1 1/2 tablespoon margarine Some how I managed to read 1/4 teaspoon as 1 teaspoon. Thats right I added one teaspoon of salt to the mashed potatoes. My love pointed this out to me shortly after i had done it. (she was sorta supervising). I reasoned that a teaspoon of salt wouldnt make them that salty. Boy was i wrong! Steaks turned out great, but our mashed potatoes were extremely salty! Almost inedible...almost. My love found my potatoe failure as cute and funny. We both had a good laugh, and I apologized many times. Silently replace all household salt with kosher salt - this way the next time you cook it won't be so salty since the flakes are bigger and take up more space (or rather salty - but not quite as much.) Or, learn to salt by taste. I think most people do that sort of mistake at least once in their life.
