While many leftists remain in denial some others begin trying to come to grips with the truth:

quote:

Obama preps for reshaped postelection presidency

WASHINGTON – Preparing for political life after a bruising election, President Barack Obama will put greater emphasis on fiscal discipline, a nod to a nation sick of spending and to a Congress poised to become more Republican, conservative and determined to stop him.

He is already giving clues about how he will govern in the last two years of his term....

Moving to the fore will be a more serious focus on how to balance the federal budget and pay for the programs that keep sinking the country into debt.

In other times, that discussion might seem like dry, Washington talk. Not now. People are fed up with federal spending, particularly as many remain jobless.

And by "People" could Ben Feller be talking about Tea Partiers generally, along with Conservatives, Independents as well as true Liberals?

What's a "true" Liberal?

The only people who think Obama is a "leftist" are those who stay glued to Fox News. The Obama Admin began attacking the Left the minute they walked into the White House, and hasn't had their support ever since (although there really isn't much of an organized Left in the US, anyway).

This election will change nothing, of course. Anyone who thinks a Republican controlled Congress will be fiscally conservative must have been asleep during the catastrophic Bush years when the Republicans over saw the biggest expansion of the Federal Govt since the New Deal, created a massive new entitlement program (Medicare B) and no plan to pay for it, and, year after year, racked up the biggest deficits the country has ever seen and caused the biggest economic decline since the Great Depression.

The fact that Republicans can now run on the promise of "change" says a lot about the state of our union. The two-party system has destroyed any possibility of competent governance: political discourse has been reduced to blaming the R's or D's for the sorry state of the country, then changing every 4 years. No one ever held responsible for anything, and no real governing. Only continually campaigning, finger pointing, and corruption.
