Is the title Dom a legitimate one for a misogynist?

Nslavu -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/22/2010 5:34:47 PM)

[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

only when there's a misandrist involved. [:@]

WolfyMontgomery -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/22/2010 5:36:38 PM)

Only if that misogynist happened to also identify as Dom.

But if they don't know what D/s is, or what Dom is, or how to be Domly (lol) then no, cuz they obviously aren't one. Even if they think they're better than women, it doesn't make them Dominant over one unless they actually want to be/are Dominant.

Edited to add

LOL Nslavu... talk about a Love/Hate relationship!

Hillwilliam -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/22/2010 5:37:26 PM)

What if it's a gay Dom?

Clearly witty. I defer to your label.

[;)] This is why I love woman.

littlewonder -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/22/2010 6:04:15 PM)

if he's dominant, sure why not? Someone will find him attractive enough to call him their Dom.

naughtynick81 -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/22/2010 6:19:24 PM)

In today's political correctness

A domineering male: A troglodyte who wants to turn the clock back to the 50s

A domineering female: A liberated woman

Does Dominant = misogynist? Only if the Dominant is a straight male who is a misogynist.

1) Why would he have to be straight? [8D]
2) If you take 'Dom' to be gender neutral, which some people do, she could be one of *these* women:

(It's amazing the corners of the internet people on my twitter feed will link to...)

naughtynick81 -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/22/2010 6:34:22 PM)

I think misandry is a lot more common in western society than misogyny these days. The main factor could be is that a lot of forms of misandry is accepted or not even classified as misandry when it blatantly is. yet when the genders are reversed, political correctness sings a whole different tune.

We know what you 'think', Nicky (if the use of that verb can be justified); you've told us often enough.

Misogyny defined as hatred of women as a sexually defined group could well apply to all sort of men, regardless how a man identifies himself. Countless men have been known to equate misogyny with dominance.

It could be said that misogynistic men are usually characteristically insecure men that have proclivities toward transferring their internal insecurities onto those whom they have objectified, which happen to be women as a sexually defined group.

The term “ Dom” is not necessarily related to misogyny, yet could be related by actions that are categorized misogynistic. Therefore neither of the two categories are unequivocally tantamount one to the other. However have been known to have some relation for some men through their personal choice of the joining the two categories, one to the other.

Take care!

A misogynist can absolutely dominate a willing female.  The terms are not interchangeable, but they're not exclusive, either.

naughtynick81 -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/22/2010 8:04:23 PM)

Does the term "misandrist" seem to get thrown around as easily against dommes as it does for the term "misogynist" against doms?

Twoshoes -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/22/2010 8:39:45 PM)

So, I read that. I'm torn between:
-laughing;
-being saddened;
-relishing the prospects of that person's internal misery.

Say what?  All of the dominants I know in real life, male or female, gay or straight, cherish and value their submissives.  Stable long term D/s relationships in the community I'm familiar with pretty much work that way, or else they don't work at all.   Nobody sane wants to be in a relationship with someone they don't really like or consider a worthy person to spend their time and energy with.   If you don't actually like men or women, chances are you don't want to be in a relationship with one, and it wouldn't be a very healthy one if you did.

Is your knowledge of how D/s relationships work limited to what you've seen on bad porn sites?

Nope, I just think dominant men never get a positive impact in political correctness/media but in some cases a female domme can. Such as CSI

DarkSteven -> RE: misogynist Dom (10/23/2010 1:47:51 AM)

In addition to what the others have stated, I'd like to add that "misogyny" is in the eye of the beholder.  I love women, but I also love to spank them and clamp their nipples... to some, that qualifies as misogyny right there.
