NuevaVida -> Things you didn't want to learn on Facebook (10/11/2010 11:14:24 PM)

I just learned my uncle died, by reading it on a relative's Facebook page.

There are certain things you don't want to learn on Facebook.

I actually love Facebook, I just think some things should be shared more personally.

Feel free to share the tackiest thing you learned on someone's Facebook page.  Let's have fun with it - cuz ya gotta laugh, after all.  [;)]

My son's girlfriend posting she enjoyed swallowing sperm. [sm=lalala.gif]

(On the plus side, I won't be a grandmother if she keeps doing that.)

I found out that my uncles best friend is a masochist who prefers kinky sex.

That my brothers first babies mama is a whore...

and that most of my friends shouldnt drink

I also recently found out that a family member had died.  It hit me pretty hard too, and I couldn't call anybody because of time differences, and it was during a major holiday, so all my friends here were out of the country.  Talk about feeling all alone!

The thing that has made me sad has been that a few people I really like have turned out to use FB as their personal bitch book.  I have hidden a couple people who in person are lots of fun and funny.  On FB there is never something happy that they say.  I won't say it's tack,y, but it is disappointing.

I've learned that I really don't give a shit about all of the minor, boring details people in my contact list post about their lives.

I found out that an ex-colleague is actually a radical christian, after she posted a "hellfire and damnation" rant against the "sins" of homosexuality [8|]

I have put a number of people on hide... simply because they post 35 times a day and basically do nothing, another one who found god, again (3rd time).
Any of the "game" players I hide, cos I really am NOT interested in playing.
Im using it a lot to catch up with my english friends and family tho.
altho I did brag about my non smoking status(13 months)
I check it once a day maybe.
This place is far more addictive

NuevaVida -> RE: Things you didn't want to learn on Facebook (10/12/2010 6:39:07 AM)

I think I'm pretty fortunate in that those I'm connected with on FB don't use it as a bitch-fest place and don't post a million times a day.  Those who have gotten "too personal", I usually hide or de-friend.  So my FB is pretty "clean" for the most part.

I figured though, that I wasn't alone in hearing some pretty important news over a facebook post.

It's crazy what people post.

found out my SIL and niece have been dealing with the big C over facebook!!!
not a pleasant way to find out.

slaveluci -> RE: Things you didn't want to learn on Facebook (10/12/2010 7:37:47 PM)

I've discovered that people I would never have suspected are actually pretty racist. I deleted them as friends and made a point of letting them know why. I just won't tolerate it.

I have had pretty good luck with Facebook - fairly clean, nothing overly annoying. It's actually been a pleasant way to stay in touch with people as my friends and family are all over the country.

It would be so much fun, I think, to see people's Facebook pages that are here on CollarMe. Won't happen, of course. (I know I'm not giving out my link. :) But I would love to see the more public side of a lot of you. It's the nosy neighbor part of me - the same that likes to look in the lighted windows of houses when I drive by.

Ah well. Shaded profiles and breast shots it is.

BoredAsHell -> RE: Things you didn't want to learn on Facebook (10/14/2010 10:30:51 PM)

i have read some things on facebook i'd rather no know about my kids, but hey, whatever, lol, at least they're open and honest about it with me, they asked to friend me, lol. i mainly keep in touch with old high school friends and family on it, nothing they do or say surprizes me anymore.

DesFIP -> RE: Things you didn't want to learn on Facebook (10/15/2010 5:31:27 AM)

My son won't friend me. Which is probably just as well since I would object to his language.
I check my daughter's to gauge how she's feeling emotionally. Otherwise I just see who has a new horse and watch reining videos from the college team.

KitchenWench -> RE: Things you didn't want to learn on Facebook (10/15/2010 8:05:33 AM)

My nephews have forgotten, evidently, that they have friended me! LOL So now I've seen pics of the one at LSU totally trashed. I am not surprised, but I don't think that's something I need to see, so I've just hidden him. It's amazing the photos that people put on FB.

And I do get very tired of  the posts like"If you love Jesus, post this on your wall."

hlen5 -> RE: Things you didn't want to learn on Facebook (10/15/2010 3:26:30 PM)

FB has brought out a whole other side of a family member that I don't care to see. Xhe says the most inane and inappropriate things and at 46, you would think xhe would know better. Xhe makes up stories, posts them and people believe the stories!!

NV, I'm sorry to hear about your family member.

This has been my experience, too.

I have friends from here who I'm friends with on FB but we respect that non-BDSM friends, family, and co-workers are linked so we keep it "clean."
