UtopianRanger -> Bravo! - Kudos to the Mods (4/24/2006 3:30:08 PM)

Just wanted to say that lately I think the mods have been doing a much better job.
There's been much less intervention on their behalf during heated discussions from regular posters, while at the same time, they've reacted quickly in removing all the ''garbage'' from obvious spammers. And I haven't seen or heard of any posts disappearing lately.

I just had a post I started disappear about an hour ago. There were 2 replies to it, that I hadn't had a chance to read and then poof it was gone. [8|]

I'm not sure why.

Mystery solved. The mods pulled it, and were kind enough to email me and explain their concerns. Sometimes when we post something we don't see all the angles.

*waves at mods*

I reported DM for flaming through ten pages. It's clear that ya'll are just gonna let it ride.

While I don't pretend to really get why some things slide and others don't, I accept that they are volunteers, they do this for free, and it's a very subjective thing to be doing. I didn't see the harm in my thread, but, they had concerns, and it's their job to act on their concerns.

Perhaps whilst the thread is controversial and annoying to some, thus far there have been very few post targeting individuals regarding their posts and even then they appear to have been written in such a way that the target was not actually refered to as a @*^%*&^$$#@&*!!!! but more treated with scorn and contempt.. Perhaps there are several posts which I personally feel were insulting to the "target" by telling then that the US saved their arse in WW2.. Mostly I find that a number of posts generally insulting and offensive not just to me or the people.countries at which they were aimed but to the US and it's folk too..... However threads like that are usefull in allowing much spleen venting, self destruction of the OP as well as allowing a number of people who read the thread and who are either psychologists or psychiatrists (Yep some of both are friends of mine and yse we do discuss thread subjects and what ever at an academic basis seeing they are members of CM but not active in the forums) to have great fun in "analysing" the person making an ass of himself....... I'll wager that if any posts became personal attacks that things would happen...... Just not sure where the Mod line is drawn and on what beach....

Wytchywoman, you were reporting me to the Mods for 10 pages? We're only up to page 12 on that thread, so that would be about page 3, or maybe page 2 if you posted this when there were only 11 pages.

Now I'm really confused, because you sent me this email on April 22:

*******************************************************************************************

You made no response to her, but rather insulted me quite heavily a few nights ago and I only pointed out that the U.S. has frequently set themselves up to be disliked by Arab countries.

I'm not interest in any debate with you, by the way.
I'm simply pointing out your inconsistency in not responding to ******** gibberish.

So I'm a little confused here. You've been reporting me to the Mods as far back as page 2 or 3, but you were egging me on to attack *******, whose posts were on page 3. What's with that?

VERY sorry about that. Didn't realize I'd violated anything. I'll review the TOS for the future. What's left of the quote makes the point. Sorry to be of trouble.

Well.... I started this thread just as a quick little ''thank you'' to the mods and admin for playing things a little more ''loose'' lately! So it doesn't look to good when people are fighting on it.

Seriously.... I know that the political climate/partisanship related to the current state of the union is very sensitive/ touchy with certain people, but hell, you gotta learn to laugh about it, shake it off and have fun! So again, I say, behave! And please don't give the mods any reason to start deleting posts or make ''whole'' threads disappear.

Now, I better put my aluminum foil hat back on and get back to joining my fellow conspiracy theorists, crafting arguments that might open the minds of the mainstream.

I agree with this but it really bothers me when the guidelines of the forums are not adhered to. It is very inconsistant and unfair where on some threads they are adhered to but on others ignored. It would also be cool to have a status page where a member could go check on the status of a thread they have reported.
