It is actually quite amazing at how little people take notice of their immediate surroundings. This is a humorous test everyday people and their powers of observation. What I find shocking is, when the changes were more dramatic people still failed to notice. How well do you think you would do?

I'll be the first to admit I'm not very observant of my immediate surroundings and other people. I just give little concern for what others are doing and so I just don't pay much mind to others or give it attention. I'm usually lost in my own thoughts or the people I'm with.

Now there are times when I'm extremely bored when I'll do the whole people watching thing in a park or whatever but even then it seems the ones I'm with are much more detail oriented than I am.

Lol!  Humorous, indeed!  Honestly, I'll be one to admit that I am not observant at all.  I probably wouldn't have even noticed the male-female swap, lol!  Very funny though

Wow...I am either super paranoid or super observant because that whole thing was really apparent to me. I am the kind of person that leaves a shop and notices people around me, the types of cars, what they are wearing, even if someone is walking to close to me. Yeah I noticed what I think was meant to be noticed in that video.

If I was staring at a map, I wouldn't be staring at a person. And I wouldn't stare anyway because it's rude. But as long as your focus is down at the map, of course you aren't looking at the person.

Slow response (hey, I got tired of fast response)

Did anyone notice when they switched to the Black guy the last time he grabbed the map from the back of the passing picture ?

The truth is most people in London don't like to notice others unless those others are lying in a road after having been run over by a bus, then they all crowd around.

I am notoriously unaware of my surroundings, I generally take no notice of anything around me...in the worlds of one of my friends...Bobland, la, la la la

My mind is a bit dizzy trying to figure out the meaning of the thing. While the overriding theme of two people; one with a map and the other gleaned from the sea of humanity at random it seems are working together to find a destination - to wit a goal. Over and over again they are rudely interuppted by picture movers who, upon further reflection seem hell bent on creating a nuisance for these two so engaged. That seems to say something, to have some meaning, so obviously it is a red herring.

Turning to the surrondings, I don't know it could've been shot at fifty different locations on Earth, perhaps someone who has been all over Europe and all that could tell more accurately. Is that the point, to infer that one should keep focussed on a certain issue amidst ample distraction ? Still smells like a red herring. Or could it be someone's delusion or expression that people are the same all over ?

But then it might just be part of an ad for mapquest.

Actually it's really annoying that when moving a heavy object there'll always be some person taking up pavement space asking for directions with a gigantic map.

Can't these people get an I-Phone with Google maps on for the love of God!

Sorry SL...., gotta call foul on that one.

Reason being is that in at least many of the shots there appeared to be ample walkway for that, rather than going right in between the two persons. Almost like they did it on purpose.

A full CM diagnostic will take years of course, but sometimes one must zoom out and have a look at the bigger picture. No matter what the theme has something to do with interruptions and distractions. The social engineering aspects of all the nuances and inuendo, or whatever will take some time.

They often came from behind the people talking and if these people are so unobservant that they can't see a person switch I don't see how they can notice the ample space around them. In most situations when someone unexpectedly says excuse me you instinctively feel you are in the way and so move with little regard initially as to if you are in the way or not.

I notice everything.
I had a real rough childhood. As a result, I tend to be almost pathologically alert, a trait she does not care much for as it gives her little, if any, slack.

I'm very observant and aware of my surroundings, hyper-aware(bordering on paranoia perhaps? lol) when my son is with me.

I think since i more than likely would have just taken a cursory look at the person who was directing me to look at a map, the voice change would have caught my attention more so than the visual change initially.  It is hard to imagine people wouldn't notice a change OF person especially physical presence such as body type, color, and gender. I also don't think people can judge their own abilities by watching this video.  I think the point of the video was to show the possibility.

But i think the biggest thing i would notice is the voice change as i am very umm voice aware especially of men lol.  While i was playing the video i was doing other things including watching a movie but when the voice changes i always looked at the computer - i.e., it attracted my attention.   Also, i wonder if the picture they show has anything to do with it, as the picture is always of a man.

Anyway interesting experiement to contemplate.

I noticed, I don't know why. It was just obvious to me. I thought the funniest ones were where he traded places with the Chinese woman, and the Black guy, and neither one of the people noticed!

I kept looking at the picture to see if the map holder and the pic were the same. I would like to think I'd notice by the voices at least! It wasn't until they revealed the trick to the camera that I got it!
