Regarding the CA IOUs...they had 'em back in 1992, remember? Back when Pete Wilson was governor. There were very similar circumstances with a deep recession and massive layoffs in SoCal in particular. Lots of guys entered grad school at UCSB hoping to ride out the recession with an MSEE, only to find the recession lingering through 1993. (The grad school said "Take the PhD qualifiers or finish now.") It was no fun trying to find a job then, I'll tell ya!

Because a letter was sent concerning a problem with a social security number, it doesn't prove that Meg Whitman ever saw the letter. I would tend to believe her instead of someone here illegally with false and possible stolen documentation.
