Congratulations!  I think you should get all those yarn gals to make you a smorgasbord of blankies, booties, and sweaters...

Enjoy the changes... and don't forget to get support when you need it!

best,
sunshine

Aw, congrats on the upcoming birth...I hope your friends bought you and the baby lots of stuff...and that you have lots of newborn diapers, formula, and premade meals waiting for you in the freezer.

By the time I had my son, I had done so much babysitting that taking care of my own was no surprise.  Nodding off on my way to the bathroom was, lol.  Being pregnant prepares you to be a light sleeper and trains you to get up and walk and do something when you should be sleeping...all those bathroom breaks your body got used to taking was really prep for mommahood...as was learning to take naps whenever you could.

You'll do fine.  After the baby is born, dozens of strangers will walk up to you with loads of unwanted advice...so I'll give you some too.  Don't let anyone come up and kiss your baby or touch his hands.  People did that with my son and I wanted to kill them when they said before leaving that they had the flu or bronchitis or whatever...aargh.

Find a tape called "Mother's Heartbeat."  It shut my baby up and made him sleep when nothing else worked.

Btw, I loved that front pouch I wore my son in while I did things like dishes and other housework.  He was climbing out of his playpens by 7 months old, even when all the toys and stuff was taken out.

You have a boy...toilets will overflow, the house will be repapered in toilet paper, he WILL discover the playdough in his diapers and give you a big loving hug afterward, if you leave your purse on the floor while you talk on the phone it will be ransacked and lipstick will be all over the carpet and walls...remove all table cloths, hide all electrical cords, plug up all unused outlets, lock the cabinets under the kitchen sink.  While you do dishes, your kid will be bashing pots and pans with wooden spoons, lol.  He will enjoy farting loudly, blowing out boogers and having you critique the color and elasticity, peeing on trees, and bringing home lovely pets like spiders.  He will also come home from kindergarten one day...to tell you he is engaged, lol.

I wish mine hadn't grown up...

Okay, that was just a small sample of what you are in for after Dominic is born. [:D]

Cynthia's getting a little ahead of the moment but yes, you'll be sure he isn't crawling and he'll appear at the top of steps you didn't bother to close the gate to. Most important, sleep when he sleeps. His nap time is your nap time. Sleep will be more important than anything.

thishereboi -> RE: I give Birth next friday (9/28/2010 5:21:26 AM)

That's awesome[:)]  I got to watch my grandnephew being born last year and it was best experience of my life. Congratulations and good luck.

kiwisub12 -> RE: I give Birth next friday (9/28/2010 7:29:51 AM)

Weeeh   -  yayyyyy - and don't forget to take naps whenever able. Forget the house past basic ,and rest!  You will get used to having a very demanding dominant type in the house - lol, and they do grow out of it sooner or later.  ......  usually, later.

and if someone offers to help - direct them to the laundry pile!

there is no way i can tell you about the miracle that is awaiting you, or about the unprecedented rush of emotions when he is placed in your arms for the first time.

No matter how many children you have, there will never be an experience as spectacular as the birth of your first child.

I. Love. This. Post. [sm=cute.gif]
(I had three boys, and inherited two more plus a girl child. Every word of this is true and verifiable. Love and bright blessings to the OP, please let us know when Dominic arrives, and don't blink.. you will wake up one morning and be about to become a grandmother, like me, and you will not know what the hell happened to the time in between..)

What an amazing, exciting and scary time for you! There is nothing that can compare to giving birth and there is nothing so natural as child birth. It is the best experience ever.

I believe each and every woman is given the tools to be the best mother to our child. Once Baby Dominic comes along the greatest gift you can shower him with is belief in your ability to be a great mother. That is all he needs.

JstAnotherSub -> RE: I give Birth next friday (9/28/2010 3:54:26 PM)

My baby is 22 and I still aint ready to be a mother.  Just breath deeply and enjoy the ride, you will do fine.

Congrats!

edit to agree with the nap when he naps thing.  And dont worry bout germs.  Babies scream to be hugged and smooched and such.  I wouldnt hand him to the homeless person on the corner, but babies gotta be exposed to stuff to develop immunities.

Gawd, gnawin on a baby.  Is there anything more precious in this whole world?

hlen5 -> RE: I give Birth next friday (9/28/2010 4:00:05 PM)
