Not done a post on here before so forgive me. Im actually very cross. Been in chat rooms described as " passionate about bdsm discussion" or the like and get endlesss nerds talking about them selves and what they are cooking tonight, to me that is not meritable about the chat room, on top of that when I complain, I get kicked off by a room bot and told not to say anymore....... completely pissed off by this website. Having said that, recently have stayed off chat rooms and read through issues on the message boards which seem to give more answers and more indepth and thoughtful responses. All of you can scream and shout at me and I will listen to responses :-)

Some of us can be passionate about what we make in the kitchen. But chatrooms are set up and then the people who are in them become a group. Like any other group, the new kid in town is not automatically catered to or accepted. This is just how people are, deal with it. However, the forums are fairly well moderated so we all are fairly polite. Read a bit, learn how the corporate culture (so to speak) operates, and I'm sure you can fit in.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. It just that this is the only medium I have and I dont need cooking recipes on a site that says " Intelligent BDSM discussion"... i can already cook :-) thanks anyway, will try and be more polite and less bored.... no will be bored and not go there anymore The room bot was a fake. xx

Can't help ya with chat room issues, OP. I don't go there. I like the forums. There's room for all kinds of discussion here. Its FUN! You are quite welcome to come and play with us here. But be warned, we do like to talk about all kinds of things besides the usual wank fodder. We try to keep our threads on track, but sometimes we just can't help ourselves... [:D]

How is dinner not applicable? One must keep ones pets/slaves/subs properly fed and maintained for years of loyal and wonderful service. Everything is, at least to me, a small part of this lifestyle. The way I dress, the dinner I make, the fact that I'll take my pet over my knee in the bad way if I find he's been at McDonalds, etc.

I find chatrooms in general to be boring places. They rarely stay "on topic" because most of the people who hang out in them exhausted the topic of BDSM a long time ago. On the other hand, the fora have labels, topics, and people can have "off BDSM topics also. When in chatrooms, I have found it more productive to steer the topic on to what I feel like talking about instead of bitching about what other people want to talk about.

If you are looking for actual bdsm discussion, this place and fetlife are the way to go. Some chat rooms can be great discussion rooms, but most will not be 24/7. Why is this? B/c most fairly good chat rooms are small (less than 20 people) which means they are not always moderated. A single person owns that chat room, and has to work, deal with dinner (sorry, I could not resist), and everything else people do in life. A cozy chat room can be a lot of fun, especially for a newbie. Part of the appeal is seeing that people into BDSM cook dinner and take the cat to the vet like everyone else. Personally, I have nothing against chat rooms, having been exposed to many of them on various servers as on online DJ. I do have some issues with the meat market rooms, but that is just me. I have had some fantastic discussions in BDSM chatrooms. I very much think when it comes to chatrooms, it depends on the room. Give it time. A small room you feel comfy in can be very informative as well as give you a sense of belonging to a BDSM community.

Just like any chat people will jump from convo to convo.. I was talking about a strapon and some how that became a dicussion about making grilled cheese.... How? I dont knwo:)

The regular chatrooms have user created rooms that are run by the user that creates that room and CM has no role in their moderation.(There are ircops on there, but they are to help with technical problems) Therefore, you will find varying rules and types of discussions(most of the time, the title and/or description of the room will let you know a little bit about it.) The video chatrooms are another outlet, and are totally different than the regular chatrooms. You do not have to have a cam to participate there, although many do, hence the video connotation. (I dont think I have EVER seen a recipe discussed there, lol)

Think of a chatroom as a neighborhood tavern. Each one has "regulars" and the room moderator is like the bartender. You wouldnt go into a neighborhood bar in a strange city and immediately try to butt in and change the topic of conversation and even if the name of the place is "Bill's darts bar" you might not go in and find a darts game going all the time. Likewise you wouldnt go into a strange bar and imediately hop up on a stool and say "ATTENTION.....which one of you hot sluts wants to fuck me on the pool table" It's a good way to get, as Ron White says "hurled like a frisbee" Go in, lurk a bit and see what happens.
