If half of what this Scientific American post says pans out in further research, the implications are mind-boggling.

I must admit to some confusion. When I was in prep school, most of us were not having regular unprotected sex, yet we still had  synchronized menstrual cycles.

According to the article lesbians NEVER have synced periods, Which is a load of bullshit.

I dont sync with any female ever and im a heterosexual female, who engages in unprotected sex when in a long term relationship.

I know of 4 lesbian couples who have synced cycles.  which according to the article is not likely

Also If youve ever been in middle school in gym class prior to 95 percent of the girls being sexually active........ many of them who had more then 3 classes together had synced cycles.  which again is unlikely per the article.

I think its just a load of bs honestly to make women more wanting to have bareback sex and ignore the consequences of said actions.

I cannot believe that article either.
 
I have had girlfriends thank me, lol, because somehow my cycle dominated theirs...they went from 24 to 28 day cycles to mine...an average of 32-35 days apart.  [:D]
 
Most of that time I was not sexually active or else was using condoms.

ETA: my understanding was that it's down to sweat. One of my flatmates last year said something about a study where they placed samples of a single woman's sweat on the upper lips of multiple women every day-their periods then synchronised despite never having met the single woman. But I haven't actually read the study so I don't know how conclusive it was.

That does not seem right, I never have sweat on my friends or family, yet have experienced synced periods with a couple of the women I have resided with (my mother and sister come to mind).

I don't think it is cum absorption that binds people together. It is more the hormone oxytocin. They call it the love hormone.

Oxytocin has been found in semen, and is easily absorbed into the bloodstream through the vaginal walls. (As are many drugs, incidentally.) I wouldn't argue that the act of absorbing cum creates togetherness, but one might postulate that said absorption would raise blood oxytocin levels and facilitate bonding.
