PolyFamilyInVA -> Error message on CM (9/11/2010 4:13:00 PM)

I am suddenly getting the message "413 Request Entity Too Large" when I attach a picture. It is a picture I have attached many times in the past and it is not particularly large. I also get the same message when I attach other pictures.

Does anyone know what I can do to correct the problem?

David

Try shrinking its size anyway and see if it'll load up. If the smaller version won't, then create a support ticket by clicking on the "Support" link at the very bottom of the CollarMe profile pages.

Or, just click on this link: http://www.collarme.com/personals/support.htm

Large does not mean size, it means file size. Make sure it is in JPG format. Also when you view a picture on a PC it could be the size of a football field these days and the PC automatically shrinks it to fit the screen.

Usually you can right click the pic and go down to where it says "Properties", click on that, it could be revealing. There is no reason to send a picture bigger than about 640X480, and in JPG format it should only be a couple tens of KB in filesize. If it's a BMP you need to convert it to JPG (or JPEG).

Thank you, Termy.  I wrote all that down and hope I can do this to my Moocow pic.  A cow with angel type wings, don't ask, lol.

I hope it walks me through JPGing it or whatever, since it is obviously the wrong size to fit here as an avatar as is.

I believe that if you just double click an image it'll show up by default in Windows picture and fax viewer, on the right click there is also "Save As". When you get to that window at the bottom is file type, if it's BMP click the lil arrow and it opens up and gives the option of JPG, click that. Either way properties will give you the image size in pixels. I don't know quite how to shrink it there because I use a third party image editor, but I bet if you look around the option is somewhere.

That way you can decrease the resolution and everything for sending, yet still retain the original hi resolution image on your own PC. You'd be surprised what a decent color laser printer can do with such an image, and somewhere you can burn it to disk and take it to a print shop and have it blown up, and that's why you want to save the original.

I darkened everything I am clueless about.  Remember that when it comes to computers, I am the reason men created blonde jokes. [:D]

Really, I tried.  I went into My Pictures, found the pic, clicked on it twice...omg, wait a minute.  Properties didn't work but I hit the edit button within that box that showed up with a double click right and...an arrow.  JPEG.  <squeals>

I think I owes ya a huggle, Termy.  Gawd I hope this works.  I'm off to see if I can get this as my avatar...wish me luck.
