Last week, I was on a business trip to Toronto, Ontario.

Arrived in the evening and went to a hotel in Downtown Toronto. Across the street from the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Of course, after a long day, I went directly to the bar for a drink.

Immediately, I made the mistake … ordering a Labatt’s .. instead of a Blue!

The bartender asked … “Where are you from”?

I replied “Detroit”.

The bartender then said …

“Oh Detroit, home of the Spartans!”

I was amused ... and surprised!

The gentleman, next to me, from Edmonton, asked: “what is a Spartan”?

After explaining, it is a university, about 100 miles (160 Kilometers) west of Detroit, he broke out laughing, shrugged his shoulders, and added “I would have said something different!” ROFL

When I got home, coincidently, my cousin in Calgary called … she broke out laughing, when I related this story … and said …

Everyone here knows … when you say Detroit ... it’s the Red Wings!

Then she added … people in Toronto are just weird … now a days!

So what do you think? AND are there any Hockey fans LEFT in Toronto?

That doesn't make any since to me either.  All of the Mrs's relatives and all of the people we know in that area are Wolverine's not Spartan's.

Go Leafs!

It is funny to me when peeps make an opinion on an entire city based on some guy at a bar. Or some cousin in Alberta. There are many people in T-dot and depending who you run in to will give you a different pov.

Had you come to my bar and mentioned Detroit I would have said, "I love Detroit, great art gallery! Dont you love the way they built the building inside out so on every floor you can look out the windows whcih are actually looking down into the courtyard where you can people watch and see the 'outside' of the building!"

Go Leafs!

Toronto is by far the most nondescript city in Canada (imo).

Buildings, roads, buildings, roads, buildings, roads, etc. Then some tower. Back to buildings and roads.

Dinner would be such a welcome change from the 15 km of roads of buildings that I might get there with the help of a GPS.

Edit: Have you been to Ottawa? The city of grand open spaces and 10 km^2 of flower beds.

Those flowers are worth your taxes!

For some reason TIMBITs are 30x more tempting than donuts. What is up with that?

And you should come to Montreal. I forget what it was famous for (since I'm desensitized) but I remember it was a whole bunch of things.

You guess is as good as mine since I'm a 5 hr drive from Montreal. Do I need a passport if I ever get there?

Nope. Why would you? You don't even have to speak French if you're a tourist.

Chuckles ... indeed You are correct!

The University of Michigan was founded in downtown Detroit, in approximately the first decade or two of the 19th Century! LMAO They moved to Ann Arbor ... now an affluent suburb of Detroit ... in the 19th Century, too!

But I think the young Torontonian, behind the bar was a basketball fan ... and knew ... Michigan State is Highly Ranked in the pre season polls ...

But it stunned me ... really it did!

LOL ... so you know ... I didn't mean to make an opinion on an entire city ... based on two people from Alberta ... I thought it was funny!

Perhaps, you will be proud to learn ... the Detroit Red Wings have special, HIGHER PRICES ... for two home game during the upcoming NHL Regular Season ...

Leafs and the Habs ...

Seems everyone in Detroit ... wants to see ... Toronto and Montreal ... no one else!

Can't figure that one out ... can you?

And BTW ... I love your city ... it is a ton of fun!
